Well it’s an absolutely gloomy Monday. Chilly, rainy and dark… (very Halloween-y though so I’m OK with it)
Hopefully your weekends were all good? Everyone stayed out of trouble I hope??
JoseeM did you wind up getting those St.Louis style pork ribs? If so, how were they?
While I didn’t have ribs this weekend I did feel like doing my best impression of a classic Swiss Chalet quarter chicken dinner last night in my new Nordic Ware HUGE roasting pan I bought at Costco last week.
This thing is actually really big, perhaps a little overkill but still really nice! The rack sits up nice and high off the bottom so there plenty of air circulating underneath to keep things cooking evenly. (and lots of room to collect tasty drippings for gravy!)
I don’t know why I was craving Swiss Chalet, but I was… I think it has something to do with the weather changing and loving those warm comforting roasting pan meals with veggies and chicken, they make the whole house smell delicious as well.
Plus who doesn’t love that Swiss Chalet dipping sauce??? Its liquid gold, I swear! And the powdered mix you can get at the grocery store is just as good!
So roasting a couple of bone-in Chicken breasts roasted at 425, some french fires tossed in a secret spice rub, an Ace bakery hamburger bun (subbing in for a dinner roll) and the Swiss Chalet Dipping sauce… Mmmmm let me tell you folks it hit the mark! (you can see how massive that pan is in the first picture!)
All things considered It was pretty darned delicious! I’d do that meal again in a heartbeat!
I lined the pan with parchment paper so there was no clean-up really.
OK, I’m sure you’re hungry for some sales so let’s take a small peek shall we?
They all looked really nice and felt a little bit more “heavy duty” than other puzzle books as they had thick and sturdy fronts and backs to them. So if you have any puzzle fanatics on your Christmas lists these would be a great grab for them. And I don’t think it’s too early to think about Christmas… Now is a great time to get that shopping started and finished so you can avoid the Holiday rush, whatever that might look like this year. I’d say make sure you get your shopping done early, and if you’re shipping anything or buying online get your orders in early to avoid any delays… Better safe than sorry, right?
On that note Ewok is giving me “the look” again so I must obey the rules and head to bed.
Somebody please “caption” this picture. I can think of a few things he might be thinking, but I’d love to hear your quotes.
And G’night.
Costco Online bookings for the flu shot are now available!
It’s true folks, you can make an appointment online to get a flu shot at your Costco warehouse during your normal shop, or plan your shopping trip around the flu shot… Either way it’s a win!
You can find an available warehouse & book online at the Costco Pharmacy page.
As we are headed in to the second wave of COVID-19 and kids are heading back to school I think it’s important to remember that we’re not out of the corona virus weeds yet, and each province has their own Health recommendations based on the provinces individual risk assessment and I would recommend that you follow the recommendations for your specific province. Information can be found at the following websites.
So there you go, a little reading material for you.
Be kind, be safe and stay healthy!

The price at your local Costco takes precedent (or precedence) over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.

The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. Just a thought for those of you who might be buying the low dose aspirin.
Why on earth buy the name brand product (even when it is on sale) when the Kirkland (identical medicinal properties) sells for about $4 to $5 for the same (or similar) count
Thank you. Makes shopping so much easier!! By the way, speaking of Swiss Chalet sauce…I was using the packages for the longest time until someone told me about going thru the drive-thru & ordering just the sauce. For a dollar you get a fairly large container of the sauce. I tried it & sure enough it worked! (in Napanee!). They didn’t mind me going thru for a dollar lol
Hi Terri! That’s a great idea, I can’t believe I didn’t think about that… Plus the Swiss Chalet on Division and the 401 is only a few minutes away. I’ll do that next time.
Hahaha, It was a little late for a cocktail at that point Karen. But his mother was asleep so I probably could’ve snuck him a quick one.
Thanks for reading and supporting!
Hi Amme, thank you for reading and supporting! I feel like the vitamix was on sale in the summer at some point, so I wouldn’t expect it to be on sale soon but you never know with Christmas approaching!
Hey Robin, I’m with you on that! I buy Kirkland calcium, omega 3 and vitamin D which are cheaper than the other brand names on sale. Some folks are just brand loyal I guess!
So I bought the frozen chocolate cookie dough last week to try it out and while freshly baked cookies are nice, the box takes up too much space in my bottom mount fridge freezer. I’ll have to try repackaging them. Maybe they’re a good idea for families but I doubt I’ll buy them again since only my hubby eats them. Now if it was peanut butter cookies??? Lol 😋
Cheers n chill, Jan
That is correct “R” but you can rebuy the item at the sale price and return the full priced item with your receipt. I would only do this with items they can resell as any food item returned actually gets thrown out.
As always, appreciate the time and effort you put into this, keeping us all up to date with the Costco goodies with a side dish of humouor! Your dinner looked absolutely delish — and thanks to Ewok (“you STILL playing on that computer instead of feeding me?”) for keeping you in line too!
Thank you for sharing those nice finds from Costco! 🙂 I called the nearest Costco (Marché Central) about the St.Louis Style pork ribs, and was told that they weren’t offering them but were available at the Laval warehouse. So, there I went and bought “3” packs, as 2 packs in the display were “mispriced” (one at $7.77 and the other at $12.84)…. So, Costco is paying “ME” $16.39 to savor them in a near future! It’s the second time in 30+ years of membership that I feel I’ve won the lottery at the Costco’s meat section, although I never buy lottery tickets. As for the Nordicware Baking tray, this is the “perfect” pan (in size and heat conductor) to bake the perfect dozen of Cinnamon Buns (search for the Cinnamon bun recipe with a tanzhong base from King Arthur Flour’s website). I had to use a flimsy extendable mold on top of a baking tray before, and it was really messy! I will definitely use this baking pan for Rotisserie Style chicken served with a side of Swiss Chalet’s Hot Chicken Homestyle Gravy Mix as the dipping sauce version is too heavy in Thyme and Rosemary flavor. Have a good week and please stay safe! 🙂
That’s great JoseeM, never a bad thing to feel like you’ve won the Costco lottery, perhaps you should buy a ticket and see what happens?
Thanks for the comments on those pans, and cinnamon buns sound delicious, making my mouth water.
Cheers!
Hi R – the Halifax store still did a price adjustment for me last week (on halloween candy). Maybe some stores are different but you would think it would be consistent throughout the chain.
@R , yes I have experienced the same as well. This was about a year back. They don’t do price adjustment on grocery items like cheese, fruit, eggs, bread, milk ( not that it’s ever been on sale 😁🤪) . At the Brampton Biscayne location they allow 30 days for price adjustment.
Seems like every Costco is a little different. Cheers!
Thank you! I always look forward to your emails. Your roasted chicken breasts looked so good. What did you brush them with before baking? And, about how long did you bake them for at 425?
Hi Cindy, thank you!
The chicken I just rubbed with canola oil and salt and pepper, nothing else. After about 25 minutes I start checking the temperature with a digital gauge until it hits about 163-165 then let it rest for a few minutes and it’ll be delicious!
Just found you today. Excellent for people like me who only go if there’s something I need.
I think Ewok is looking around thinking “what can I knock off this counter to get her attention?”
Okay, Ewok’s expression is downright HILARIOUS!! Definitely plotting your demise…LOL!
Thanks for all you do for your blog every week – it’s a wonderful tool, and it’s much appreciated!
Thank you for reading and supporting Kelly, yes Ewok was plotting something for sure…
Stay safe and healthy!
Wow, thank you! Very thorough indeed. There is sure a lot going on there. Hope you didn’t spend too much.
Hahaha, that’s nearly impossible Donna though I do try!
Have a great weekend, stay safe.
Thank you
You’re welcome Yvonne, thank you for reading and supporting. Stay safe!
Ewok: “Its time for bed, I’m not telling you again.”
That’s usually when he starts biting my toes… Little bugger!
Excellent, thank you!
You’re welcome Karen, thank you for reading and supporting.
Just a thought for those of you who might be buying the low dose aspirin.

Just bought that one today Robin!

Thanks for posting these deals. I look forward to them everything week. Any idea when Costco usually has the vitamix on sale?
Hi Amme, thank you for reading and supporting! I feel like the vitamix was on sale in the summer at some point, so I wouldn’t expect it to be on sale soon but you never know with Christmas approaching!
Once again – thank you — list in my head and I also refer to your post when in the store — many thanks — for what you give to us!
Thank you very much Marcia, I’m glad this helps you plan things out a little bit!
So Costco says they don’t do price adjustments on grocery items anymore even if I bought the item less than 14 days ago. Anyone else experience this?
Hey Robin, I’m with you on that! I buy Kirkland calcium, omega 3 and vitamin D which are cheaper than the other brand names on sale. Some folks are just brand loyal I guess!

You and your peanut butter cookies… Not that I blame you, they are delicious!
That is correct “R” but you can rebuy the item at the sale price and return the full priced item with your receipt. I would only do this with items they can resell as any food item returned actually gets thrown out.
Thank you fantastic as usual
Thank you Sara!
Stay safe and healthy.
Ewok..Just go to bed..I’ll be in later..😼
I think Ewok wanted to use the computer too!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that you do this!
My pleasure Yoona, thank you for reading and supporting!
Ewok: Treats before bed!
Yes, that is something he would say!
Ewok, “Excuse me but where is MY Swiss Chalet?”
Ha, sounds about right!

Haha, that’s a great one Lima… And probably pretty accurate.

In Ewok speak…. “Move it or lose it, pal”
Haha, that’s more of a Dexter comment I think.
Thank you!
You’re welcome Fatema, thank you for reading and supporting.

I looked for the Champion fanny packs last weekend and couldn’t find them. Where in the store are they hiding?
In the Kingston location they were just at the back of the 1st aisle with the vacuums and heaters (if they’re till available)
Ewok is just scolding you for not sharing the chicken dinner 😂
Yes he does that sometimes… I guess the fancy feast isn’t enough for him!
Thank you so much! We just finished our chicken dinner and it really was sooo good 😋
Did you do a Swiss Chalet inspired dinner as well Cindy?
Just found you today. Excellent for people like me who only go if there’s something I need.
