Well, it’s another rainy June day here Costco family.

But thats ok, we had a few really nice days over the week-end. Like actual hot summer days, so I suppose that’ll get you a pass mother nature.

I hope all of your weeks were as good as mine was, not that anything crazy happened this week, it was just a really nice one. The city was buzzing with summer energy- patios were full, people were flocking to the market on Wed. and Saturday, out walking around shopping, watching the Basketball game in the market square (which was pretty cool to see so many people coming out and participating)

The restaurant was busy, but I still had time to get some work done outside removing all the small river stones in preparation for laying down some nice flagstone pieces.

riverstone removed from backyard Flagstone for the backyard

It’s so odd to see the backyard looking different, we’ve been here almost 10 years now so I’m pretty used to it so ya- change is weird. It’s not a bad thing though, those stones looked nice but walking on them was really uncomfortable and as for cleaning up the autumn leaves??? Forget about it, we’re done with that nonsense! Just a quick sweep, or quick pass with a leaf blower (comfortably in bare feet as well) and ‘yer done!

Well, let’s take a peek at some of the treasure hunt sales happening this week at our favorite warehouse.

Whiskas 11.6kg dry cat food $21.99 -6.00 @ 27.99

Cesar variety dog food 36 x 100g $28.99- 6.00 @ 22.99

Lil critters gummy vites 275 gummies $13.49 – 3.50 @ 9.99

Ecos laundry detergent 210 loads $17.99 -4.00 @ 13.99

Finish quantum dish detergent 100 tabs $22.99 – 8.00 @ 14.99

Oceans flaked white tuna 6 x 184g $15.99-3.20 @ 12.79

Pepsi/Diet Pepsi 32 x 355ml $11.59-2.80 @ 8.79

Cashmere premium 2-ply bathroom tissue 40 x 234 rolls $20.99 – 5.00 @ 15.99

And here are some Kingston, ON. Costco meat department sales…

Mmmmm, strip loins are nice, but I still gotta stick with rib-eyes being the best cut you can get… At least for just doing straight-up steaks. Tacos, or sandwiches you can kind of bend that a little bit and use tougher cuts (skirt, flat-iron) by marinating them, aiding the tenderizing process and adding flavor. But hey, that’s just my opinion and I have been known to be wrong from time-to-time.

Dexter it seems, has the right idea about all that stuff… Sleep it off. (Isn’t that a song??? Oh wait no that’s Shake it off- thanks Talyor)

He’s been spending a lot more time on the couch with us lately and re-visiting his old favorite spots on the top cushions. (I also think he’s just trying to be cute to get more screen time than Ewok, just a thought)

I think I’ll leave it there… Cute cat, great sales, dinner on the stove (as always at this point on Monday) and work tomorrow morning. I hope you all have a great week, and I look forward to seeing you soon. (And maybe showing some progress off in the backyard???) No promises, but I’ll try.

Good night!

  1. Thank you very much for doing this week after week!

We all really appreciate your efforts so much!!

I hope you were able to watch the Raptors game this evening. What a great game, they came so close. Oh well, it’s not over yet.

    • Hello Layla Bay! As you know I love doing this, and I look forward to reading the comments even more! I did not watch the game however, no time! Oh well, maybe next game I’ll watch a bit.

  2. Thank you so much, we appreciate your hard work and love to read your little article. I feel like I know you a bit.

Please tell me you are watching those raptors games?
We are the North even at East 😉
    Cheers

    • Hello Alexandria, thank you so much for your kind words! I kind of feel like we’re one big Costco family here, and I’m happy you’re a part of it!
I have not, however, been watching too many games. Seems like I’ve been working most nights they’ve been playing (or doing the blog like last night) But from what I’ve read, and the highlights it looks like they’re gonna win!

  3. Thank you for doing this every week! I love seeing the sales before I go in to shop.
    Appreciate your time and efforts

    • Thank you Todd, I’m glad you enjoy the blog and get some good time/money savings here, I look forward to it every week as well!

    • Haha, yes I suppose it can be a bit of a zoo in there from time to time can’t it?! It’s a pleaseure Harrison, thank you for reading and commenting!

  4. We went to Costco on a Monday for the first time I can remember. (ran out of croissants) It wasn’t the same, having not seen your weekly review. It was eerily weird exploring the aisles on our own. Won’t do that again! Keep up the good work. Thanks!

    • Hello Tim and Wendy, nice to hear from you! It can be a bit a bit odd exploring those aisles not knowing what to expect, but I suppose next time you’ll have to double up on your croissant purchase to avoid that situation!!! Unless there’s good sample carts out, in which case you can just keep making circles claiming to be lost, haha.

    • Hey Tricia, welcome! I’m glad you checked out the blog and even gladder (if that’s even a word???) that you love it! I look forward to hearing from you again next week.

  5. Thanks! I’m going to be on the lookout for the Goldenberry Power Mix. Also interested in the Surelock Portion Control Set. What kind of a lid do these have?

    • ugh, I had an error when I submitted the first comment, then decided to add to it and they both showed up… lol

      • haha, that’s ok Jennifer. I seem to do that quite a bit as well, but you can tell me about how cute Dexter is as much as you want!

  6. Dexter is so handsome. He lies around while you do all the work at Costco and in the yard.
    lol
Thanks for all the effort you put into this.

    • I know, it’s hard to get motivated sometimes when he gets needy and just wants to sit with me. I think maybe it’s time for him to get a job!

  7. In Newfoundland, The Nature’s Mix Goldenberry Power Mix is reduced further to $4.97! Great deal. Keep a look out for this price reduction.

    • Oh wow that’s great, thank you Riley! I’ll keep my eyes peeled when I go in a few hours. Thanks for reading!

    • You’re welcome Mindy, thank you for coming back and reading each week! I appreciate the support and am glad you enjoy the blog!

  8. Amazing to do this every week! I have shared with all my families and friends. We are all addicted to Costco. You make the chaos a little more manageable. Thank you!

    • Welcome to the family Carole, I too am addicted to Costco (obviously!) Thank you for reading and for all the support you give!

  9. Thanks for keeping us informed about deals at Costco. I live in Ottawa and the in-store specials are often the same as Kingston or perhaps a week later.
Thanks to your recent update, I purchased the Oxo SoftWorks Pop Container set and we love it. The largest container is much better than the one we threw out (it had a crack straight across the bottom and did not seal as well as the new ones).
I don’t know about Kingston, but the Merivale Road store in Ottawa has started to sell Kirkland Signature Vanilla Almond DARK Chocolate Ice Cream Bars imported from the U.S. They are absolutely DELICIOUS. It’s hard to eat only one at a time!!!!!!!!

    • Hello Marie, that’s great to know your warehouse is on the same page as mine! I saw those containers and was thinking about getting them, however we have a drawer full of containers already… Maybe once we’ve lost all of those lids I can justify a new batch, haha! I’ll kep my yes open for those ice cream bars, though I too have a problem with only eating one of things like that- they never last too long.
Cheers, and thank you for reading.

  10. Love the photos of your kitty. He reminds me of the two we used to have. Lovely markings. Thanks for posting and all the effort you do to make this a great blog. Much appreciated.

    • Thank you Lynne, Dexter is a great kitty and has very pretty markings (though not as pretty when he’s jumping on us at 7 in the morning) Thank you for reading and for the support! I look forward to hearing from you again this week!
