I’m definitely confused by the weather here, I mean the furnace came on this evening… It’s June… The furnace should not be on until maybe late September??? Oh well, it’s not as if I’ve had enough time to put our patio together… Still havn’t stained it or put a waterguard on it, and yes as Jan had mentioned in her comment last week there is no rule about doing that but it seems like a worthwhile step to take if we’re looking at a wet summer/fall. (plus as a former house painter- not a huge undertaking as our deck is reasonably small) So I think I’ll still try to do it this weekend… Not gonna have time to sit on it until then anyhow and the cats- Ewok (top) and Dexter (bottom)- have lots of room to stretch out and run around.

Now you’ve seen my cats…

So, you’re all aware of my love for cast iron cookwares by now ( if not see previous blogs  https://cocoeast.ca/costco-canada-ea…-atlantic-canada/,  https://cocoeast.ca/costco-canada-ea…-atlantic-canada/ ‎, if you’re so inclined.) Check these out. A 2 piece skillet/dutch oven set…. Lodge (a very good quality company) pans for this price?!?! Please just get them, do it, do the research on how to care for them and get them. They will literally last longer than you if cared for properly, and for searing meats there is no question that it tops any surface (other than perhaps a grill). So Do it!!!

( I didn’t get them yet, I have just got a second large skillet not too long ago so I wasn’t ready- however… It may be too good a deal to pass up)
Another neat thing I saw today was the Pocket Juice portable charger for cell phones etc. I’ve never used one of these but it seems like (these days) it may come in handy… having a full charge at the ready for your devices, or your kids devices, could be a life saver. Especially if you’re on a road trip and the kids are watching stuff on tablets/cell phones, for your sanity you wouldn’t want that to run out I’d imagine. Plus could be handy in an emergency situation, or to keep charged in an emergency kit kept in the basement. Which is a good idea for all of us I think. (check this link for some basics on that) I’ve got a pretty basic one at home, some basic tools (well plus all the tools I currently own) a few knives, survival blankets, strike anywhere matches, lighters, toiletries, pet food, tylenol, dried foods and some canned foods (which- check the expiration dates on those and try and use them before they go bad, then restock… I didn’t consider that the first time for some reason and had to throw out a few things)  and a can opener obviously, some utensils. I still havn’t gotten a small hot plate or burner type thing that catering companies use so I need to get to that at some point (a chaffing dish and sterno is what it is…. I knew that’s what it was, but chose not to erase my mistakes after looking it up just because, well why not). no need to go overboard if you live where I do, but still having a 72 hour supply of water and food is probably a good thing right? Just in case…
Persil laundry detergent is on sale again, I got some a few weeks ago and am pleased so far. I like the smell of it, and it seems to do what it’s supposed to do, well done detergent… A+ for you. Bellucci extra virgin olive oil is also on sale this week, and anytime olive oil is on sale I’ll try and grab it. I love having a few different types of olive oil in the cupboard for salads and cooking. They all have unique tastes and uses so I’m excited to try this one and see how it measures up. I’ve had someone tell me they take a tablespoon of olive oil every day for health reasons, Anyone else??? ( take a look here, do what you will with it) I’m personally behind this, I’ve done it for stretches of time but my resolve to stick with these types of things is about as strong as my resolve to keep to a regular gym schedule… Which if you’ve read my past blogs you would know it’s not strong. So… anyone else do this on the regular???
These Bambeco swiss alps bee houses have piqued my interest for a while now, they seem like a really cool addition to a garden (provided you don’t have an allergy to bees or their stings) but I’m a bit confused when it says they attract non-stinging bees… I didn’t see the sign on the actual bee house that said for non-stingers only… Stinging not allowed!… Stingers to be removed and cleaned before entering this house… ???? I don’t know, I think it’s a great thing to attract and promote bee health and any way we can assist bees in their quest to be bees, so if these things would help – sign me up for all of them. Anyone tried or read any reviews??? I would read some and link to it, however… Dinner is ready… So I must say, Good-bye!

Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.

If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. There will likely be a few deals not shown here in your store. If this blog has helped you save money, consider sharing www.cocoeast.ca with your friends and family! • Thank you Gail! I have a great time doing this and get a kick out of writing the blog, so thank you for supporting it!

    • I was in last week to get the collapse crate and they told me that it wasn’t Saint John that had them on sale . Also said anyone from anywhere could be taken pictures

      • I do *really* appreciate this blog as a guide. I know that not all deals might apply at my particular store. Of course anyone from anywhere could be taking pictures. There is a disclaimer above that:

  1. We got these cast iron pans to add to our collection and they are fantastic. Great for camping and for winter steak grilling when the BBQ is buried in snow. The pocket juice is also great for camping and when you’re in a hurry, heading out of the hour and realize your kids used up all your cell batteries.

    • The poster has different areas to select from ck out the section and pick as it applies to your locale. Our store in Fredericton doesn’t have all items, but many I would never have seen without this. I hope this helps!

  2. Thanks for doing this blog. I have 4 kids and it really helps me to keep down the cost of our grocery bill by being able to plan meals around what’s on sale. Thanks!

  3. Merci for doing all this! I look at your blog every monday! I was just wondering if you have a fresh meat section and if you have the time to walk those aisles?

  4. Which Costco location is selling those Philly swirl sour patch stix ice pops? I was at the one on Woodbine and Hwy 7 and they don’t have them.

    • Hey thanks PopcornMaven, the Kitties have been enjoying the spotlight and have asked that I include them in more blogs as well, so… looks like you’ll be seeing more of them!
