Well folks, we’ve finally done it… We have purchased our new B.B.Q.!!! Oh I’m so excited!!! here it is…

well, not that one- I haven’t assembled it yet, but that’s the model we got, 4 burners, a side burner (never had that before, but very excited) and a rotisserie attachment that has a separate rear burner… I’m not going to lie to you- I’ve never rotisseried before, but I am so very pumped to try it out!!! I will take pictures of the assembled beast, and try and grab some shots of the meals we make on it as well if you’re interested!

So in reading your comments- somebody asked if I ever go through the meat/fresh food sections, and yes I do. Typically those sales are vastly different from location to location so while its great for anyone here, it may not be the same at your store. That being said- Lots of chicken on sale here this week, and 18.49 for 2 organic whole chickens is a ridiculously low price – so read the past blog where we talk about separating a whole chicken, get your ziplock baggies out, sharpen your knives and get slicing! …Or put ’em the rotisserie and come back 4 hours later…mmmm…. Also, if you are a steak lover striploins are on sale -so again if you have the freezer space- get the whole loin and portion it out, maybe cube up some of the thinner end bits and save those for a delicious slow cooker beef stew! Personally I’m more of a rib steak kind person (bone in- of course) and for the serious steak eater… the glorious Tomahawk cut

This is where you separate the steak eaters from the steak LOVERS. It’s a serious cut of meat (and as you can see by the price, not exactly a cheap one either) so you don’t want to mess around with it, but grilled properly (or cast iron pan seared) you will never regret that purchase.

Follow this link to a video from one of my favorite kitchen personalities as he tells you how to cook the perfect steak.

That leads me to the fact that he unfortunately took his life only a few days ago- Anthony Bourdain… His books had a huge impact on my love of food, and love for the kitchen industry. While a tad vulgar and perhaps a bit crass at times, his writing never pulled any punches and gave everyone a glimpse into what happens behind those magical kitchen doors… Granted things have changed and not all kitchens are as crazy as some of the ones he was in, but the way he describes the kitchen staff and the relationships formed through long, hot, stressful days and nights is one hundred percent accurate. I kind of miss those times. If you’ve never seen any of his shows, please watch them. No Reservations, The layover, and Parts Unknown. All excellent shows- and the amazing places, cultures and foods he enjoys along the way are eye opening. If you’re anything like me, you’ll wind up spending many hours on YouTube or Netflix watching these shows so Enjoy! I could continue for a long time here, but I won’t for your sake. But I do encourage you to watch a few episodes, get to the book store- grab a copy of Kitchen Confidential and dive in.

He also has a few cookbooks that you should consider essential to your arsenal of cookbooks. The Les Halles Cookbook

ok, done… for now…

Lots of great sales this week, Pepsi and Diet Pepsi are on sale (though I somehow missed the Diet Pepsi picture….???) Also Whiskas cat food and Pedigree Dog food are on sale.

Oh ya, Starbucks Pike Place Coffee is on sale this week, I love that stuff, The odd time I’m actually out for a coffee that’s a go-to for me. I should have gotten some but I think I still have a full bag of the cafe verona, and another half bag of another kind and no cupboard space left, weird right?! (no more coffee till we go through most of what we have)

We were talking about emergency kits recently, and (while not on sale) Costco does have this kit available

A reasonable price I would say for what it supplies, and compact enough to fit in most bin kits. I will be grabbing one this week to add to mine. (I also rotated out some cat food and restocked it, don’t forget to do that!)

Speaking of cats, it seems some of you enjoyed seeing pictures of my 2 kitties, Dexter and Ewok. I would be happy to share more with you!

They’re cute.

Enjoy folks, and thank you all so much for all the support you give to me and to this site! I really appreciate it, and I look forward to doing this every week, so Thank you!!!

Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.

If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. There will likely be a few deals not shown here in your store. If this blog has helped you save money, consider sharing www.cocoeast.ca with your friends and family! If you see deals at your store that aren’t on this blog, post them in the comments and help spread the money saving love!

We realy appreciate it since I discovered you.
Do you go in the wine section? The “vinier” (wine in box, I am french canadian and dont know the name in english). They sometime are in sale but I did not see them here.
    Your cats are sooo cute!!
Thank you again and have a nice day

    • That’s great Christine! My location is in Ontario so unfortunately we don’t have a “wine section” though I’m now very jealous… The wine in the pictures are of do-it-yourself wine kits, which if you have the time and space and inclination can get you a great deal of wine for I think around a dollar a bottle???
I’m glad you enjoy seeing Dexter and Ewok, They’re loving their appearances on the blog, and I’ll keep adding some every week!

    • Thank you Carol! I will keep taking pics of my cats and adding them… they seem to enjoy the attention, hahaha!

  5. Thanks for your wonderful tribute to Anthoy Bourdain. Very well said.
Also for the kitty pictures. They make me smile of course.
Yes, please post pictures of the tasty meals you prepare on your new BBQ.

  6. Thanks a million for all your hard work and interesting blog. Love your fur babies, so cute.
Nice tribute to Anthony Bourdain, a real shocker, we never know what others are dealing with.

To Christine in Quebec, lucky you being able to get wine at Costco. I think that is the only province that allows alcohol to be sold. Other provinces are way too regulated!

    • Hey there Layla Bay! Thank you for reading! I’m glad you enjoy this, I enjoy it and look forward to to it every week, so do my cats but more-so because they like to distract me.

  7. Thank you for your hardwork! Really appreciate the time you put in so we could just sit in our homes and budget before heading out to Costco for shopping.
Before I knew secret sales existed, I once walked into Costco and saw things on sale that were not in their Flipp flyer and I was really frustrated. I almost missed a good sale on diapers ? with this blog, I am not worried about missing good sales! Thank you so much, you made my life a little easier.
