Costco Canada Weekend Update April 3rd 2020 – Ontario, Quebec & Atlantic Canada

Hello and happy Day that ends in “Y” my Costco friends and family!

Hopefully you’ve all had a good week!

As I said a few weeks ago I won’t be doing my Friday shopping at Costco until this COVID-19 situation calms down a little bit. We’re doing OK with it, and have been following the recommended advice of only going out for the essentials once a week (which is my Monday Costco shop) otherwise staying home.  So this post won’t have any fun and exciting Costco weekend sales in it, just me doing what I would normally do… Without the sales.

I did do a drive by today, just to give Costco a little wave, as I miss it…

I couldn’t help it. I felt like I at least had to go and see it… (sniff sniff)

While the weather has been a little up and down with sun and rain, that’s par for the course. (And thank God something is par for the course these days with COVID-19 making it “not so”, the opposite of what Jean Luc Picard would say)

Jean Luc Picard

Even Pickard groaned at that one…

Speaking of which, has anyone watched the new Picard series??? (Is anyone out there a Trekkie?) I haven’t yet, but would like to, though my Mother has been watching it and has said it’s a little… I don’t know if she said depressing, but the first few episodes were a little down feeling. I never like to judge a show by the first half of the season because that’s the establishing period where you meet characters and are introduced into the whole world, so sometimes it feels a little slow or confusing, but once they get the story established and the world and characters introduced you can then really get sucked into it… Like we did with “LOST” (Now may be a good time to re-watch actually!)

While we’ve been making sure that we’re staying active, the robins around here have been wayyyy more active than us!

We noticed (on Tuesday morning) that there was a flurry of activity happening out on our front porch, not really thinking about it too much as birds flying around is pretty normal here. So it wasn’t until later in the day when we decided it was time to take the Christmas wreath down (don’t judge!) that we kind of couldn’t…

Those robins have decided that our front porch was a good spot to nest… Incredible how they managed to get it built so fast!!! That being said now we have 3 robin couples nesting in our area. I’ll keep you updated on how that goes.

The cats have been taking full advantage of us being here at this point, making sure that we’re “on-call to open the door” for what seems like every 4 minutes to either go outside, or come inside.

This is a common scene at any given time of day…

While cute indeed, by the 25th time while trying to enjoy your morning coffee “cute” doesn’t seem to fit properly anymore.

At least Ewok was looking up as if to ask. Always using his charm that one.

While we have been isolating from the general public we have been taking walks down our country road (as I’ve said my partner is better at this than I) and have made some friends down the road from us.

(I think this guy needs a name as well, suggestions are welcome!)

The cows are semi-curious about us, though not very talkative. The chickens (there’s 6 of them, and chickens are hilarious to me for some reason.) seem to be always out and about on this property pickin’ and scratchin’ around, so this is good incentive for me to get out for a walk. Ya know, to see the chickens.

Well, I think that I’ll let you go for the evening folks, I was going to go and teach my partner how to play a Nirvana song on drums but our attention has now shifted to watching “jumanji” instead.

Friday night family movie, just have to corral the cats and we’ll be set!

Perhaps some Kirkland signature microwave popcorn is in order to accompany our venture??? Hmmm….

Have a good night folks, stay safe and healthy.

See you on Monday.

  1. ha ha your too curious …. STAY HOME !!!! lolll dont you think the kirkland popcor taste like paper sheet ? i stop bying it 2 years ago i only buy the authentic orvill redenbachers extra butter. have a good week , we waiting for your monday post.

    • We thought the popcorn tasted great! Maybe it was the eating popcorn in bed and watching a movie that made it taste good. We are staying at home Sylvain, I went for a nice drive and didn’t get out of the car.
Stay safe and healthy, and see you on Monday!

  2. Thanks and stay safe. You are amazing for doing this until it was impossible. Ordered my first online order. Got a Calvin Klein trench coat, Eddie Baer anorak (parka), a BBQ cover( as mine was ripped to shreds in the wind storm), and some B12 spray vitamins. Hope it arrives stress free at the porch. It is not like I am going anywhere.

    • Thank you Mom2! I believe that all deliveries made now are contact-less, so it’ll dropped on your porch. (though I believe it’s a 7 day delivery now due to high volume) It’s my pleasure, thank you for the support and you stay safe as well!

  3. Always great to hear your uplifting posts amongst this craziness which is our new normal.
We have 2 cats ( one who thinks he’s a dog-out every day touring our property checking on the animals. I love watching our 6 chickens & a duck they always make me smile & ground me as I try to find news ways of “adapting”. Can only imagine how difficult for some people in these unstable times. We truly are in this together; 6 feet apart.
    Be Healthy, Happy & Safe.

    • Haha, yes together 6ft. apart. Sounds like you’ve got a nice little farm going on there, I’m not sure how our cats would adapt to the chickens, but we’ve certainly though about getting some.
Thank you for the support, stay safe and healthy!

  4. Nice update, thank you. I love the photos of the farm animals, too. It sounds like a really pretty area for your walks. Have a good weekend.

    • Thank you Brian, it’s a really nice area, yes. We’re 10 minutes out of town, so very quiet, lots of space and not so many people!
      Stay safe and healthy!

  5. Thanks for your family updates ,you new home surroundings are just picture perfect ,love seeing the farm animals!

    • Thank you Faye. It’s beautiful area, and we are lucky to live in a nice country area and having the animals nearby makes the walks that much more entertaining.
Stay safe, thank you for the support!

  6. Thanks for all the pics! About the bird’s nest at your front door, do they dive bomb you when you go out. Or is it just me: our robin’s nest a few years ago at the front door, the robins ‘decorated’ our car and our front porch. Going to work in the AM or coming home in the PM, the robins tried to get us in the head. We took the nest down. Sorry, nature lovers- was washing the car daily and wanted to keep my hair 🙂

    • Haha, well so far we haven’t been dive bombed but I just noticed today that they have laid 1 egg so… I can’t move it now. So far we’ve only had minimal “decorating” but we’ll see how long that lasts…
Thank you for reading and the support, I’ll keep you in the loop about our little feathered friends!

  7. I like the new star trek John Luc. Its interesting story line so far and it’s nice to see the crew (older now). Cant wait for next season.

Thanks for the update and all the animal photos.

    • Thank you Vivian, I look forward to watching it too. We used to watch it everyday when I was younger so I can’t wait to see the progression of the characters.
Stay safe and healthy, and I’ll see you on Monday!

  8. Hello, great to read your blog. It will be nice to follow along with the baby birds. Glad they found your Christmas wreath inviting. I still have a few Christmas decorations up outside as well. I was going to take them down but it was suggested to leave them up to help boost moral.

Is there anyway you could install a cat door, perhaps on your back or side door?

What a nice cow, how about Costy for a name? Was trying to think of a Costco sounding name:-)
    Enjoy your weekend, live long and prosper \\ // 🐦 🐦 🐦

    • Hmmmm, how about Kirk???
The back doors are glass so it’s not really do-able… I’ll just have to exercise my patients for now till it’s warm enough to leave the door open (soon!) I’m bad about leaving stuff like that up, but I guess for now it’s a good thing!
      Live long and prosper!

      • Kirk is good, how about Scottie, the cow does have red hair.
        Mooooooooooooving right along 🐄 🐄 🐄
        Beam me up Scottie 🖖 🖖 🖖

        Enjoy the beautiful day 🙂 🌷 🌷 🌷
