If you’ve ever ever wanted to see ALL of the spices, flours and nuts Costco has to offer this post is for you!
It’s never a bad time to upgrade your spice rack, and if you’re really into cooking and baking then you’ll probably want to have a pretty well stocked pantry. We tend to use herbs and spices quite liberally when we cook so having them in larger quantities is very beneficial, so the “Costco sized” packages are perfect, and way more cost effective than buying a smaller bag or container from the grocery store… probably cheaper too!
And Vanilla… The price of vanilla seems to go up and down but right now you can grab a 483 ml bottle of pure vanilla extract for $19.99.
A 46 ml bottle might cost as much as $4.99 at a grocery store… I’m no mathematician but that seems like robbery!
And if you’re feeling fancy a package of organic vanilla beans for $12.99.
That’s something I haven’t done before, and also I haven’t seen those in stock since the start of the pandemic… Maybe I should grab some just in case?
As far as the nuts go we love Pumpkin seeds for adding to salads and the “Costco sized” bag tends to last quite a while.
Same with the raw Cashews.
You can’t go wrong having some of these hanging around in your pantry!
Anyhow every salt, pepper, spice, flour, etc. It’s all here, scroll down to take a virtual stroll up and down the spice aisle!
I think it’s important to remember that we’re not out of the corona virus weeds yet, and each province has their own Health recommendations based on the provinces individual risk assessment and I would recommend that you follow the recommendations for your specific province. Information can be found at the following websites.
So there you go, a little reading material for you.
Be kind, be safe and stay healthy!
Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent (or precedence) over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.
If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

You should think about googling the Indri’s vanilla bean group on Facebook. They are a co-op and the bean prices cannot be beat including the quality. I stumbled across it and have ordered from there along with my mother. It is the cheapest and best way I have found to get amazing quality vanilla beans. The beans Costco has are expensive and way too dry for my liking. Also is it just me or has there been a huge price increase super recently on a bunch of the items at Costco? I know things have gone up but the prices seem to have jumped in the last week or two just in time for Christmas baking?
That sounds awesome Lauren, I’ll definitely check that page out! Prices have gone up across the board, we’ve noticed that all of our suppliers at the restaurant have jacked up their prices too…
Our Costco (Kitchener) seems to only have organic vanilla for $29.99. Western Canada Costco’s had the $19.99 bottles so hope we get that here soon. It was 43.99 at one point.
Holy moly that’s an amazing price on vanilla!! I checked my Flipp app and Metro is selling 118ml for the same price. That works out to 4 times the Costco price! Just for the heck of it, I looked on Kijiji and someone is selling it (same label as Costco’s) for $45 a bottle. Lol I guess they’re running a reselling business. I wonder if Costco cares when someone buys a case of the stuff??
Btw, I think the 2 signs on the pink Himalayan salt products may have been accidentally reversed 😉
Cheers from Waterdown, Jan
For me, the Flipp app is indispensable! It’s free and after you input your postal code, it provides the weekly grocery (and more) store flyers for your area. I can create a shopping list, use it for price matching, (where applicable),there’s a search function for advertised items (eg. I can see who’s got butter on sale) and on Wednesdays some flyers are available for a sneak peak of the next week’s specials! It’s a huuuge time saver imho…. ya gotta get it fer sure!
Thank You, I am bookmarking this post. The instant gravy is a must buy, selling for $20 on Amazon, I am buying some now while Costco stocks it. Want to try the brownies too.
🙂🙂🙂
Hi Toni, would you say it’s a better product than Club House or McCormick brand? I’ve never heard of it before and would not likely try it unless recommended. I usually find commercial sauce/gravy bases very salty with a certain flavour that I find unappealing but then I’m a picky pain in the butt lol 😂🤣
Thanks!
Great to know, thanks. I’m a cook but not a baker, however this year I’ll make my mom’s shortbread cookies with her since she can’t do them on her own anymore due to her dementia. They are THE best shortbread cookies I’ve ever had and I’ve tried many.
It was my great-grandmother’s recipe (or likely passed down to her), then called Scotch Cakes. If anyone would like to try them, I’m happy to share the recipe – it’s a simple one with only 3 ingredients.
I also traditionally make chocolate barks and spiced nuts as gifts and I always get my pecans and almonds from Costco. Will pick some up once I figure out to fit it all into my December calendar!
Exactly! But this one is very simple so I’m willing. 🙂
Here you go:
Yield: 8 dozen
Ingredients:
1 lb butter, at room temperature
1 cup icing sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
Method:
• Cream butter.
• Mix in icing sugar.
• Add flour gradually.
• Knead until pliable and roll about 1/4 ” thick.
• Cut into small circles, 1 1/2 to 2″ in diameter.
• Bake in slow oven (about 300ºF) until golden brown (10-15 minutes)
Mom always added a dollop of butter icing and a small piece of red or green marachino cherry on top. I love them that way, with the tiny bit of sweet and colour.
I hope you get a chance to try them and enjoy them even half as much as I do!
Love it! A favorite row! This really helps in my planning. We’ve bookmarked it for future reference. Thank you!
Awesome definitely need to check out some of these baking supplies
Thank you Colleen!
Thank you so much! This is a brilliant resource!
Thank you for reading and commenting Jo-Anne! Take care and stay safe!

That vanilla is pure while the stuff at the grocery store is imitation. There’s a huge difference. Also that bottle was $40 a few months ago!
Hi Karen, actually grocery stores sell both artificial and pure extract. The bottle labels indicate which type, as does the price!!

The real deal is unbeatable Karen, I agree!

I’d love to see the recipe Susan! I’m with you, a cook not a baker…. It’s way too precise an art for me!

A spice trip to Costco! you must have had some time on your hands!!
How was day 4, 5, and 6 in the cheese calendar??
Did Ewok approve of them??
Hahaha, time on my hands?!?! What would that be like I wonder???
Day 4 was OK, it was a soft ripened red pepper one and yes, Ewok approved!
