IMPORTANT RECALL NOTICE – Sunvilla 10’ Solar LED Umbrellas
Hello folks! A quick recall notice for you to read.
SunVilla Corporation is voluntarily recalling Sunvilla 10’ LED Umbrellas (Costco Item 2127206, 2127215, 2127270, 2127266, 2127250, 1902438, 1372976, 1503642, 1902386, 1902401), sold at a Costco Warehouse or on Costco.ca between January 2021 and May 2022, because the lithium-ion battery in the solar panel may overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. To date, SunVilla has received six reports of lithium-ion batteries overheating, including one fire incident in Canada and four fire incidents and one smoke inhalation injury in the US.
Please immediately stop using the Umbrella’s LED light feature, by taking the following actions:
- Following the instructions in the product manual, remove the Solar Panel from the top of the Umbrella;
- Store the Solar Panel out of the sun and away from combustible material;
- Do not charge the Solar Panel with the AC adapter; and
- Return the Umbrella and (now removed) Solar Panel to a Costco Warehouse for a full refund.
