Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.

If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. There will likely be a few deals not shown here in your store. If this blog has helped you save money, consider sharing www.cocoeast.ca with your friends and family! If you see deals at your store that aren’t on this blog, post them in the comments and help spread the money saving love!

Hey folks, writing from Toronto this evening… or early morning now I guess, 1:20 is considered early right? or is it late??? To be honest I’m a night owl so this time feels normal to me, I feel like most of my life I’ve been a night person… I can remember being a kid not wanting to go to sleep (which I think is normal for a child… or a cat- that I know for sure) but also pretending to sleep and then getting up and doing things, whatever things I was doing though I do not recall.

That aside I’ve had a fantastic day today, we had a nice relaxing morning- had coffee and read the news and cleaned out the litter boxes (…so much fun), packed our small day trip bags, made sure we had wine and coffee for the morning (well coffee for the morning and wine for whenever really… You can have wine in the morning if it’s a “vacation” right? I won’t judge if you don’t!) Scrambled to get our accommodations booked because we are sooooo well organized and have no problem making decisions (lies, all of it lies!!!) but got a great deal, a 2 bedroom suite which is basically a renovated apartment and we got it using my partners RBC points which I think covered about 80% of the cost so no complaints here!!! (though I made up for it in Ballpark beer and popcorn)

Just kidding But man ‘o man 13.75 for a ballpark brewski and 9.50 for a bag ‘o the popcorn? phew! Good thing they didn’t go into extra innings I guess! It was so much fun though, I havn’t been to a game since I lived in Southern California, my partner had NEVER been to a game and I don’t think my Mom had been to one in 4 or 5 years??? maybe less, I think she saw the Mariners play a few years ago. Either way I can’t say that there is anything that quite compares with the atmosphere of being at a baseball game, there’s just something about it… My partner said it felt like wholesome family kind of fun and I guess that has something to do with it… Its a slower paced game so there’s a bit more talking going on, generally not as much drinking which leads to less aggressive fans (generally I guess unless it’s the world series) and lots of families and kids having fun… That’s it, just lots of people having fun. The sounds, the smells, the panic when a foul ball comes your way… Can’t be beat, and I think we will be trying to squeeze in one more game before the seasons over (we enjoyed it that much!)

Pre-game we went to the distillery district and walked around taking in the sights, there is a Mexican restaurant we have gone to before called El Catrin (highly recommend it, really good food great table made guacamole, large tequila list, and the Al Pastor tacos are fantastic even if the aren’t off a trompo spit… still really good.) I’m a bit surprised none of us got a margarita but we ordered so much food there was only room for one round of bevies… What did we get… Guacamole, Mexican corn off the cob with cilantro, lime, spices and cheese, Tuna tostadas (while very small and a bit pricey they were delicious) Baja fish tacos, Al pastor tacos, vegetarian tacos, and a shrimp salad… Simply no room left for a ballpark hotdog… but yes I made room for popcorn (1/2 the bag is on the table in the room right now staring at me but no, I shall have NO MORE!) After the Jays won the game we went to a place near the St.Lawrence market and had a few post-game beverages before calling it quits and heading back to the hotel. Gotta save energy for tomorrow right? The plans are (weather dependent) go to a place around the corner that looks really good for breakfast (Lola’s kitchen… I’m very excited for this and either the brunch bowl or brunch burger… Check out the place here!)  get myself a laptop bag, go to the R.O.M. (where apparently my Grandma would let me run free in the bat cave exhibit and freak my Mom out) then head to the market and get a peameal sandwich before catching our train back home (my partner is heading to see family in Barrie) If that doesn’t happen we will be heading to Center Island for a few hours… I voted for the museum…

Ok…. enough already, sales right???

P.S. Thank you to my friend who filled in so valiantly and got the pictures taken and edited… I really appreciate it, but this means I will need to go to Costco again this week and do my shopping.

As you saw first, (like I did obviously) Starbucks Cafe Verona coffee is on sale again for $5.00 off… So I’m going to get 2 bags this time folks. 2 so I won’t have to write in a few weeks or a month “gee I wish I got 2 bags last time they were on sale, ’cause I just ran out” not this time, not again. End of story.

LAUNDRY DETERGENT SALE BONANZA! Persil, Downy, Snuggle, Purex and Gain all at cut rates this week. Which also means I should have waited to get Persil because I like that one, I think I got the EOS one a few weeks ago, It’s fine but I really enjoyed the Persil brand so maybe I’ll just grab one and store it until it’s needed.

ZIPLOCK BAG AND CONTAINER BONANZA! Bags of all sizes and, holy wow, 25 Piece container sets for $10.99!!! That container set is a great deal… Seeing as no matter how hard we try our container drawer is constantly a disaster- even after going through it and getting rid of the odds and ends- it may be a good time to redo that little project. For 11 dollars that’s ridiculous and no reason not to clean things up a bit.

Those delicious Dr. Praegers veggie burgers are on sale this week too, I just got a box last week darn-it. Maybe putting another box in the freezer wouldn’t hurt too much…

LYSOL BONANZA! Wipes, sprays, cleaners, Bounty PT and such are on sale.

AND WHISKAS!  $6 off a 12.6 kG bag still, again I haven’t been back to pick one of these up but I would like to so I can donate it. Speaking of which I had a comment last week from someone who wanted to buy a bunch of the Kirkland dress shirts which were on clearance for 6.97 at my location and was going to donate them, I thought that was a great idea and can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that as well but it’s good to know that there are people who are happy to help others. While a shirt may not seem like a big deal to some of us a brand new dress shirt may be the motivation or the last piece of the puzzle to help someone get a job or… well… I don’t know… It’s like that viral video of the police officer who was helping a guy trim his beard so he could get a job (click here for that story) , sometimes it’s only one thing that’s holding someone back from getting things back on track like that, a clean shave or a nice new shirt may make all the difference in the world to that person and get them that job that gives them their independence back… Ok, sorry cat food got WAAAYYY out of control there, I guess writing after baseball games and beverages has it’s downfalls.

I think it’s safe to say I’ll leave it at that. Thank you for reading each and every week, thank you for your comments (that I look forward to reading) each week, and thank you for being great people!

Must rest for museum trips now otherwise I’ll fall asleep in the bat cave of the R.O.M. and I’ll freak out both my Mom and my partner, though… That might be kinda funny.

Cheers everyone, Go Jays!

    • That’s great Karen! It’s good to have 1 day set for that… Anytime I’m in Costco more than a few times per week I tend to spend a fair bit more money, so planning is always a good thing. I’m glad you enjoy the blog and hope you continue to save some money!

  3. I’m a Wednesday Grocery Shopper. Have been for more then 20 years. I soooo wait for your post on Tuesday’s. 5. Sounds as though you are enjoying a great time in T. O.
That sure is expensive for beer and popcorn at the Jays game!

Enjoy the rest of your mini vacay 🙂

    • Thank you Layla Bay! WE did have a great time, fantastic Jays game, great dinner, nice after game drinks. Went to the Royal Ontario Museum today which was a blast! Shopped at the market and had a peameal sandwich from Carousel which was equally great. Then hopped on a train that was delayed an hour but am back home now and the kitties are happy (now that they’re done complaining) haha. Thank you for coming to see me every week!

    • Thank you very much David, I’m glad you enjoy and hope you continue to come back each week! I have a blast doing this!

  6. Just wanted to thank your friend for taking the time to go around and take pictures for you this week. I myself am not a detailed shopper and would never come across half the sales if not for this blog. Great help!!!!

    • Thanks Rosemarie, I’d hate to miss a week or push things back too far in the week so yes, my friend was a great help for sure!
