Hello and happy Monday treasure hunt day my Costco friends and Family!
It is certainly es muy caliente here in South Eastern Ontario, so while the item below looked very cool it will certainly not be needed for quite some time.
And as you may have noticed they misspelled “propane” as “prophane”. And that is exactly what you would think of the idea of standing next to that at this point in time.
Now in about 6 months this will be the star attraction on your patio, or back deck. They do look really, really cool I will admit that.
For the time being though we’re trying to stay cool, therefore I finally went and got a haircut! (I think I mentioned in a previous blog it was about a year and a half?) She chopped off about 7 or 8 inches maybe, and boy ‘o boy does it ever feel good.
This sales preview is pretty darned good too, so check it out!
KS acetaminophen 500mg ES 2 x 350’s -$3.00 @ $9.99
Baby Bel mini & mini light 28 x 20g -$3.00 @ $10.49

While not on sale (though I expect it may go on sale soon so I’ll be waiting to get a price match!) I bought a Danby 40 pint dehumidifier today for $169.99
We’ve noticed that the floor get a little tacky in the late spring & summer so figured we’d give this a try. After being plugged in for 4 hours the relative humidity dropped from 66% to 50%, the floor is not tacky at all so I think it’s working! Any one else have that problem or try one of these units? (I love it so far, though it is a little bit loud… sacrifices must be made though, I suppose.)
As much as we aren’t fans of the gypsy moths hangin’ around these parts after moth-mageddon 2021, we did have a visit from this pretty, big guy.
We had 1 moth like this last year that was as big and gorgeous… Too bad we can’t have dozens of these instead of the other ones.
Speaking of flying things, does anyone here mess around with drones??? I noticed these little Voyage Aeronautics palm sized drones last week (they’re on sale now for $19.99) and wondered if anyone is a drone fan and would care to give an opinion about this… Or any other drones for that matter.
It’s very small, and looks pretty accessible to a person wanting to learn to fly a drone but not crash a $500 dollar drone, ya know? Start small… Maybe a cat toy can be deployed by this???
Ewok would be pleased by that, or maybe terrified! I don’t know how he would react to a flying robot…
OK, too much crazy thinking at this point, it’s time to go to bed. Enjoy the sales folks, and I’ll see you soon.
Stay cool, Stay safe and of course…
Stay calm and Costco on!

COVID-19 vaccinations are ramping up across Eastern Canada, follow the links below to find out if you’re eligible and where they are available in your Province.
Since we are still in the third wave of COVID-19 I think it’s important to remember that we’re not out of the corona virus weeds yet, and each province has their own Health recommendations based on the provinces individual risk assessment and I would recommend that you follow the recommendations for your specific province. Information can be found at the following websites.
So there you go, a little reading material for you.
Be kind, be safe and stay healthy!

The price at your local Costco takes precedent (or precedence) over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.
If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

Yeah, I was looking at that too. I’ve never bought the Kirkland brand so I’ll have to give it a try…. it’s definitely a yummy 😋 indulgence!
Cheers, Jan
When we buy the lamb loin chops, we cook the whole batch with Wostershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and Mrs Dash. We split into 1 or 2 chops and freeze for ‘fast food’ lunches with bread or dinner with rice/sweet potato/potatoes or veggies. YUM
That moth is really beautiful! When I zoom in, it looks like a colourful little mouse with wings lol!
That drone? Buy it! It’s $20 for heaven’s sake! It won’t likely last but you’ll have some fun messing with your kitties 😁
The Kewpie sesame salad dressing might be worth a try. I’ve heard that folks absolutely looove that brand for mayo. I want to try it too but haven’t seen it anywhere. Opinions anyone?
Thanks again and try to chill 🥵🥶, Jan
Hi Jan – I just opened a bottle of the Kewpie sesame dressing and really like it. I’m not a big fan of commercial dressings (except a couple of Farm Boy’s) but like this one.
Jan – Kewpie Mayo is Japanese Mayo, so you can try your local Asian Supermarket (probably a few in Burlington). I have also spotted Kewpie Mayo in the international aisle of Walmart and Food Basics. Major retailers’ international aisle selection will vary, based on the population of the neighbourhood so it’s hit-and-miss if you’re looking for something specific.
I bought 2 Good Earth outdoor lanterns yesterday. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t give me the sale price from the Kingston store but they’re still $10 cheaper than online and a pretty decent price. It might all be for nought though since they’re quite a bit larger than the ones I have now and might be too much for my townhouse. (My neighbours seem to think so.) 🙁
I got 3 of the Balderson 2017 Reserve aged cheddar on spec. Has anyone tried it who could compare it to their 2 – and 4-year-olds? I like them and usually have one on hand. And I’m hoping my nephew (who has champagne tastes on a beer budget), will like it better than a more expensive 5-year-old PC one he gets and goes through in a week or so!
I also bought 2 bags of the Flourish veggie crisps for my sister Deb (who BTW used to live in Waterdown Jan). She bought some on the weekend and really liked them so wanted to stock up.
Saw a couple of more items here that I wish I’d bought but my fridge and freezer are pretty full so trying to rein myself in!
Hey Susan, thanks for the salad dressing info…. I know what you mean about commercial ones…. me too!
I’m going to weigh in here on outdoor light fixtures, despite you not asking lol. I’m a big fan of bigger is (usually) better. So many builders and home owners put up piddly little lights (and install them waaay too high) and the proportion is all wrong, especially on a 2 story house. Don’t listen to your neighbours unless you think they have any sense of good design. Sorry for the rant lol, wish we could post pics!
And btw Deb must be a truly fine person 😉
Thanks Jan. I’m still thinking about the lights – they are quite large and the ones the builder installed are actually an okay size. Have to ponder this one some more as I really like the style. 🙂
Ha-ha re Deb. 😉 She and her husband really liked Waterdown and were there for many years. They had an in-home business that eventually needed more space plus they wanted to be closer to family – hers in Ottawa and his in Montréal – so they settled in Prescott for the business and Johnstown for home. They do keep in touch with some friends in Waterdown.
We’ve been here 38 years and sadly have seen big changes that have transformed the once charming small town into a bedroom community for T.O., filled with more plazas and traffic congestion. The many acres of farmland across from our short street are now surveys filled with hundreds of big ugly box houses on tiny lots. And the prices are beyond imagination…. $1 million for a semidetached!
“🎼 They paved paradise, put up a parking lot” 🙁

Across from our short street, the many acres of farmland are now surveys full of ugly big box houses on tiny lots totally devoid of any charm. And a semidetached house is $1 million! Since we’re now part of Hamilton, our property taxes are some of the highest in the country. “They paved paradise, put up a parking lot” 😕
Oooops sorry ‘bout the double post. I thought the first one had gone down the rabbit hole and disappeared! 🙄
Ha, never a bad idea to check
I get you. I’m in a suburb of Ottawa that felt like going out to the country when my mom moved here in the 80s. I moved here 22 years ago and where there were cows at the end of my street, there is now a mall and we’re actually getting highrises! 🙁 Worst is the Amazon warehouse. Double 🙁 !
Thanks for the review on the dehumidifier! My dad has been looking for a new one, asked me to see what Costco has, so will pick one up (if there are any left tomorrow)
Might even grab a drone for his birthday next month! He had an expensive helicopter years ago but crashed it a number of times till he could no longer fix it. hmmmm maybe I should get two….
Thanks for your efforts!
stay cool and inside away from the smoky haze!
Haha, ya I’d grab 2 of them just in case. They do come with some repair & spare parts though. How do I know??? I bought one!
The dehumidifier is awesome, a little bit loud but it really works well.
Stay safe Jennifer!
Thanks for the information about the $4 off on New Zealand lamb. That’s when we buy it at Costco. When it’s on sale 🙂

Thank you so much for the list! This helps me a lot to plan my grocery trips, i look forward to it every Tuesday morning!! 👍👍

Yeah that haze is quite shocking! I feel so sad for the folks experiencing it up close 🙁

Did Costco discontinue the bacon wrapped steak and chicken? I haven’t seen it for so long!!

I was wondering about the Danby 40 pint dehumidifier today for $169.00
I need a new one so will follow your comments with interest !!!!
