Alright folks, it’s Monday again much as expected. It usually does come after the weekend and with it a plethora of new sales from the Costco treasure hunt.

(I hope some of you get this reference)

As someone was mentioning in the comments- back to school supplies should be coming and they did! So there are a bunch of goodies I snapped pics of for you- and while not on sale they are on the floor and available to all! From calculators to colored pencil sets, 3 ring binders, notebooks, pens and highlighters… all the goodies you’d expect… I was tempted to grab that 50 pack of pencils because I’m a sucker for the old school pencil. Roots lunch bags were also present on the sales floor, and they looked pretty nice I must say. As is still the case Snowsuits and those winter gloves are still available so complete your sets this week before they’re gone folks!

I also noticed the Finish dishwasher cleaner packs are now on clearance for 5.97 which is CHEAP so I’d be stocking up on a few of those, it’s not like you need to use them too often so buying a years worth for maybe less than 20 bucks isn’t a bad idea… I’ll be doing that this week. Another thing I meant to grab (but didn’t for whatever reason, distracted by something shiny no doubt) were the Co-enzyme Q10 caps. It’s one of those supplements that I try and remember to take (or have at home in my private kitchen pharmacy) for general good health along with multi vitamins/supplements, krill oil (the royal red kind), grape seed extract, and milk thistle. Anything that helps to support the immune system or things the body can’t produce on it’s own or will get missed by a few days for poor dietary choices… Though those days are usually limited. (more reading on Co-enzyme Q10 here)

There hasn’t been a ton of fun crazy things going on over the weekend, Just lots of heat and humidity. One thing that did happen was a former NHL goaltender Ray Emery Died from drowning at a Hamilton Marina (read more on that here), which is awful of course and a reminder to everyone to be SAFE when swimming or boating! Summer is fun and all kinds of fun can be had swimming and boating or canoeing, fishing etc. but be careful- and if you’re alone on the water make sure to wear a life vest (even if you think they aren’t cool) Ok?! alright PSA done, that incident just reminded me how terrible it is when those kind of accidents happen and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone or their families… Ok moving on… Actually wait, not quite yet! I just remembered one of the purchases I made this week was an important one! I picked up the Kidde 2 pack of smoke/Co2 detectors for 89.99.

Image result for Kidde 2 pack

We had noticed last week the detector on our main floor was acting odd so we pulled it down to check the battery, which was fine (do the tongue test- it’s fun) but noticed that the alarm had a sticker on it saying to replace the unit in 2016!!! So… I think it’s 2018 now right??? so we checked the other ones and yup- same thing. It’s one of those things that’s often overlooked- but hey maybe when you’re done reading this blog give your detectors a little inspection huh? Do the weekly test (that no one does) and check to see if the battery needs replacing. Better safe than sorry right? Ok moving on for real this time.

Though neither are on sale I just wanted to point out that the Dr. Praegers California veggie burgers (see below)

Image result for dr. praeger'sImage result for moishespickles

and the Moishes Pickles are delicious… If you haven’t tried either, I suggest you do. They’re Dyn-O-mite!

I wanted to point out these puppies as well….

I’ve had the sweet baking sheet that’s got the flat side and griddle side and man it’s fantastic! So I could only imagine the pans would be as well, they felt and looked well built… nice ‘n heavy. And they don’t feel like they would get all scrapped up by using metal utensils on them so I may have to buy these and give them a try- however… If I do that I will have to clean out and pare down the pots and pans section of my kitchen… Those drawers ain’t getting any less cluttered and I can’t in good conscience add 2 more pans to it, just ain’t gonna happen yet- I guess my weeks mission – should I choose to accept it- will be clearing that out and organizing it to facilitate adding to the collection. Wish me luck.

On that note, I think I’ll go and take stock of that nightmare of a pair of drawers and see how feasible that will be.

Have a great week folks, enjoy your shopping and summer-ing!

Cheers

(P.S. The kitties are doing great, just hot and lazy… much like me!)

Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.

If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.

The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. There will likely be a few deals not shown here in your store. If this blog has helped you save money, consider sharing www.cocoeast.ca with your friends and family! If you see deals at your store that aren’t on this blog, post them in the comments and help spread the money saving love!

  1. OK… imho, throw out all your el cheapo non stick fry pans and buy those “the Rock Plus” ones! I bought the regular Rock fry pans from Crappy Tire (on sale only, of course, since their “regular” price is insane) and Wallymart (when they included a smaller bonus pan) a few years ago. I liked them but had reservations about how well they were standing up. The Costco ones are a better price and superior quality with thicker bottoms and a better heft. I use wood or plastic spatulas since I think metal will eventually scratch the finish. Everytime I see someone looking at them in Costco, I share that info with them too!

    • Thanks Jan, I think you’re right. While I do have a nice stock of Cast Iron pans at home they are not the best for everyday fast cooking, these seem to be a great alternative. I think with your recommendation I’ll swing by on Thursday and grab some… They have a 6 piece set for 160-something as well I think too… I’ll see if I can grab a pic of that later in the week as well.
      Thanks for reading Jan!

      • You’re welcome … just a little payback ?. I’d buy that set but I don’t need more stuff lol!

        • hahaha, yes I have the same problem… I’ve been trying to have less stuff, but it’s really not working out too well. Gonna need a bigger house soon!

  2. I’ve had those rock pans for 3 years now. Love them. As mentioned earlier, they may have the same coating as cheaper Canadian tire or Walmart, not the actual pan quality is much much better.

    • I think I’m gonna love them too once I get back to Costco and get them… Seems like too good a deal to pass on really!

  3. The link to Co-enzyme Q10 is very informative. Thank you. Aside from enhancing heart muscle health, the supplement is particularly useful for people on cholesterol lowering drugs, statins (like lipitor and crestor), to prevent severe muscle spasm and aches.

  4. The Heritage Rock pans are fabulous! I don’t use anything on the pan when making pancakes and they slide right off. Love them ?

  5. I also need to replace my kiddie fire/co detectors. Will you be so kind to show the back of the unit to me (not the package as I was there on Sunday and looked at it myself but it doesn’t show the back of the unit). Mine has a small 3 prong hookup. I just want to know if these would be compatible as the price is fantastic compared to other stores.
    Thanks?

    • The detectors come with the backing plates so you’d just have to ( as I did) crew the new plates into the ceiling which is super easy. I apparently left my transfer cable at work and can’t upload any photos from my phone at the moment… whoops!

    • I couldn’t help but eyeball them, great price and seemingly great quality! I’ll get them this week I think.

  6. Just a heads up: The Aleve is “priceless”.

I’m not sure about the I Rock set of pans. I had a friend who got a set from crappy tire and I ended up with them because the non stick wore off in a few weeks and she had lost the bill. I have them for camping with. I don’t know if it was a dud set or if they just suck. Hopefully the set from Costco is better. If not… Costco’s return policy… “Rocks”

    • Hi Janet, even my pans from C. Tire didn’t fare that badly but if you check out the Costco ones, I think it will be obvious to you that they are superior in quality.

    • Ha, yes the Costco return policy is pretty fantastic! I havn’t had an issue with my baking sheet from heritage rock yet with the coating… seems pretty durable… I guess it’s a matter of being careful not to scrape overzealously with metal utensils when stirring and I think your not supposed to put them in the dishwasher, handwash only.

  7. A note on the Finish dishwasher cleaner – they don’t fit in all dishwashers. You place it upside down on a rack and the racks on my Miele dishwasher would not hold it securely enough.

    • Hmmhtat’s odd, thanks for the info though! I wonder if you can kind of wedge it in with a big coffee mug or something?

  8. thanks once again for all the work, please keep up the awesome work and dont stop. although some people i share the your blog with do not leave a comment, but i have share your blog with every single person i know. please do not stop ever.

    • Thanks Laura! I have a great time doing this and don’t have any plans of stopping! Only plan is to make it better for everyone each week!

  9. Thanks for this – it’s amazing! The Wasp Be Gone’s a great buy! A 400g container at Home Depot’s $8.98 for just one. And I’d HIGHLY recommend getting the frying pans – I have them and so far, they’re the best I’ve ever had. They’re incredibly easy to clean.

    • Thats what I’ve noticed about the baking sheet I have thats a heritage rock, super easy to clean and they retain heat like crazy! Also heavy and just feel like good quality

  10. Hi,
Great tips on the Co-enzyme Q10. I appreciate it and need to get some.
Yes I get the reference to “Plethora” hahahaha. How many time did I see that movie.

  11. I would also endorse the Head “running” gloves @ $17.99. I bought myself a pair a few years ago and wear nothing else all winter, although they wouldn’t be warm enough on very cold days. They are the best gloves for driving… grippy on the wheel with lots of dexterity. When my husband lost his leather ones, I bought him a pair and now he’s sold on them too. And the price is right!

    • I’m gonna have to get some of those gloves for my partner who’s in real estate and is always on her phone, so I think for winter time a great match… until it’s like -35…

Always look forward to your interesting blog and post.

I am also enjoying hearing other shopper’s comments, really helps to hear other’s point of view. I’ll probably buy those Heritage Rock pans now even though I wasn’t in the market for new frying pans.

    • Hey Layla! I’m glad you keep coming back and I love seeing your name in the comment every week! I do love getting people engaged with each other here… It’s like our little community, and getting people talking about products is great as well, I’m sure I’ve learned a few things by reading them and yes I’m going to get those pans as well… Can’t pass up a good kitchen buy!

    • Hi r! We usually have fresh Salmon in our seafood area, just make sure you call ahead first to check the price and availability at your local warehouse!

    • Yes Joyce, The toolchest has a little asterisk in the top right corner meaning the item will not be re-ordered so it’s a last chance item. I’ve noticed a lot of those tend to have price drops on them to over time

  13. I just stumbled on your Costco blog Wednesday morning as I’ve been waiting and watching for the Casio Scientific Calculators to appear this year. I work with disadvantaged youth in South Africa for half the year and have always brought 6 calculators each time I go for youth that can’t afford to purchase their own. Getting the BEST price is very helpful for me!

I had stopped by a Costco I’m less familiar with on Monday and did not see any displayed so searched the internet Wednesday morning and found your blog AND voila the calcukators, “Thank-You”! I also now understand the weekly advertised sales vs the unadvertised sales. I picked up the calculators at my regular store that same day. I have signed up for your blog so I’m aware of other specials and have told two friends about it too.

    • Hey Janet that’s great! I’m glad you were able to find the calculators, thats also a very amazing thing that you do, I’m very thankful that there are people like yourself who do things like that. Thank you!

  14. Does anybody know if the Kids Kayaks for $69.97 are still out? Went on Tuesday and meant to grab one on the way out and forgot… still id love to snag one! Thanks!
