RECALL NOTICE: Pekkle Infant Sleepers, Costco Items 321123 and 741147

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately, Costco has issued a Product recall for Pekkle Infant Sleepers, Costco Items 321123 and 741147.

Costco Wholesale records indicate you may have purchased one or more of the Pekkle infant sleepers (Costco items 321123 and 741147) between April 29, 2016 and April 14, 2017. The sleepers are manufactured by Lemur. Lemur Group Inc. is voluntarily recalling all Pekkle infant sleepers purchased between April 29, 2016 and April 14, 2017. The metal snaps on the recalled Pekkle sleepers may detach or fall off, resulting in a choking or laceration hazard for children. Lemur Group Inc. has received reports involving the metal snaps, with one report of a laceration injury to an infant. No choking injuries have been reported. If you believe you have one of the impacted Pekkle infant sleepers in your possession, immediately stop using the sleeper and return the affected product to your nearest Costco Wholesale location for a full refund.

I’m not sure about you, but if this recall affects all sleepers, I will be returning these for a refund.  Fortunately, YOU DO NOT NEED A RECEIPT to get a refund as all your purchases are attached to your membership ID.  If you have received this item as a gift, Costco will generally give you a store credit instead of a refund.  Also, THERE IS NO LIMITED TIME FRAME on when a recalled item can be returned for a refund.   The Costco purchase terms state: “Costco guarantees your satisfaction with the merchandise you purchase from us.”  You can check for the Costco Item Number which is located on the tag on the leg of the sleeper.

I do appreciate that Costco is looking after the safety of our little ones.  As much as I try to watch out for her, she can sure get into a lot of mischief after she is put down to sleep and after she wakes up.

The Pekkle website states: “Pekkle takes this situation very seriously and is grateful for Costco Canada’s swift and decisive action in halting the sale of the affected garment while Pekkle opened an investigation with Health Canada, supported by international laboratories. An investigation to determine the causes of this defect and to immediately find solutions that will ensure that such a situation never reoccurs is ongoing. The quality of its products and the safety of Costco Members has always been and remains the company’s top priority. All of Pekkle’s team is actively and closely working with Costco Canada, its suppliers as well as Health Canada regarding this matter.”

Our baby has worn these sleepers more than half of her life and I hope the deficiency is fixed quickly.
