Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Samlip Soft Cheesecake and the Costco Summer Fresh Mediterranean Orzo Salad.

I absolutely love the Mid Day Squares from Costco with chocolate so when I saw these new PB&J Mid Day Squares at Costco I needed to try them ASAP. I was expecting an outer chocolate shell with peanut butter and “jelly” on the inside because I didn’t actually read the box. There’s no chocolate in these. There are 12 bars in the box and I paid $14.99 Canadian.

The bars need to be kept refrigerated and the best before date is about four months from when I picked them up. I’ve frozen Mid Day Squares in the past successfully. These are great for a healthier sweet treat. I often have one for dessert.

These PB&J squares have 130 calories, six grams of fat, 16 to 17 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, eight grams of sugar and six grams of protein. I like that the bars are gluten-free, dairy-free and they use olive oil.

I was a little unsure about these bars before trying them thinking they’d be really artificial tasting and too sweet. Turns out I love them. The company definitely nails the classic flavor of peanut butter and jelly without the bread. The grape and strawberry jelly both taste a lot different from one another and taste like classic jelly, not a dupe. The peanut butter layer is creamy and thick with tiny bits of peanuts in it. I’m a huge fan of PB&J and I’m glad the company did a good job with these, I’ll definitely finish my box.
