Natalie reviews: Smokin’ Joe’s Brisket Burnt Ends

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Pisti Spreadable Almond Cream, Costco Boba Bam Instant Boba Pack, Costco Kirkland Signature Raspberry Cheesecake.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

We were having ribs last weekend and I saw these Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ Brisket Burnt Ends and decided to pick them up to go with the ribs.

The 650-gram box costs $15.49 Canadian and comes with one vacuum-sealed bag of burnt ends and one bag of sauce.

The ends are already fully cooked and there are instructions on the box to either broil or use an air fryer to heat the ends. We used our air fryer. The ends need to be refrigerated, and the best-before date is about six weeks from when we purchased them. You can serve the burnt ends in a bun or another idea is to have them on their own with some coleslaw and baked beans on the side.

In a 3/4 cup serving, there are 370 calories, 24 grams of fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 13 grams of sugar, 20 grams of protein and 1000 milligrams of sodium. That’s a TON of sodium! If you’re watching your sodium intake you may just want to steer clear of these. These brisket ends are gluten and dairy free and contain soy and mustard.

I cooked my burnt ends in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit and they came out looking pretty close to the ones on the box after seven minutes. I think they could have used an extra minute in the air fryer after trying them but they were still good. They’re tasty and have a smoky flavor. The pieces that are good, taste delicious but there are a lot of pieces that are tough and fatty. I think about half the pieces were good and half weren’t very tasty. If all the pieces were better quality I’d be more inclined to buy them again.

  1. Some tough and fatty pieces? That’s a big NOPE from me 👎! I noticed these in a previous blog post and wondered what the heck burnt ends were…. doesn’t really sound very appealing to me. I really hate biting into mystery meat like that, not knowing which pieces are spit worthy 😝. Don’t even get me started on that level of sodium. So thanks for your review! 😁

  2. Yeah, I’ve tried these one in the past and no, that is not even close to good. There were like just 3 pieces that were cooked right, the rest was fat and very hard pieces.

    It is a no no.
