Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Bistro 28 Pretzel Bites and the Costco Dessert Factory Brookies.

I decided during my last Costco trip I wanted to try a new dip with the Kirkland Signature Corn Chip Dippers so I picked up this Herdez Salsa as I’ve never tried it before!
The box contains three different kinds of salsa that all together equal to 1.28 liters of salsa and I paid $14.99 Canadian for the salsa.
The salsa has a best before date that’s about a month from when I purchased them and also needs to stay in the fridge. This salsa can be used with chips, on fajitas, on tacos, in taco salad, on enchiladas or on quesadillas! I love to snack on salsa and chips as an afternoon snack but if you’re trying to be a bit healthier you could also dip raw vegetables into the salsa.
The nutrition facts vary depending on what kind of salsa you’re having. The avocado tomatillo has the most calories, fat and carbohydrates but the least amount of sodium. The traditional salsas almost have no calories and zero fat but contain quite a bit of sodium. All of the salsas are gluten and dairy-free.
I tried all three salsas and my favourite is definitely the avocado tomatillo, it’s taste is similar to guacamole but much thinner and a little less flavorful. There are some positives and negatives about the traditional salsas. I’ll start with the positives, they taste extremely fresh and are more like a Pico de Gallo than a jarred salsa. They have big chunks of fresh tomato and onions in them and both aren’t very spicy. I don’t notice much difference between the mild and medium in terms of spice level. The mild is much hotter than I’d consider a mild salsa to be but the medium salsa isn’t much hotter than the mild. I also found the traditional salsas quite watery.
Cost: 7/10
Convenience: 10/10
Nutrition: 9.5/10
Taste: 8/10 for the avocado tomatillo and 6.5/10 for the traditional salsa.
