So yes everybody, You read the post last Friday (??? – i think) I’ve got an Instagram page going (here https://www.instagram.com/costco_east_fan_blog/ ) Now don’t panic!!! This isn’t going to effect anything here or on the Facebook page, the sales will still appear as they always have here, the blog will always appear as it always has here, I will still be the same person and write the same stuff I always have I will just be adding extra content to the Instagram page- things like my weekly shopping haul, pictures of my cats and pictures of things I cook with my Costco food goods (no promises that they’re gonna be award winning, but you know how I like my food and cooking)… So if you’re interested in those types of things take a peek at it, It’s still a work in progress and just a week old so I’m sure it will change and adapt a little bit as time goes on but I’m excited to share a different side of this whole thing with you- I hope you’ll take a peek as well!
It has been a busy couple of weeks here with family visiting and day trips and then more family visiting- but I guess that’s the summer for ya’, and that’s OK. But now were back to our regularly scheduled programming.
…and go!
So cafe Verona coffee was still on sale (and though I bought some on friday) I decided it would be wise to grab another bag of it today that way I don’t run out before the next time it’s on sale… We all know that isn’t a good situation so I’m going to avoid it. I should probably just grab a dozen bags of it but I’m not sure how long whole bean coffee lasts, I would imagine quite a long time in those airtight bags. I suppose I should do some research.
Children’s Advil is on sale this week too so stock up parents, funny how they havn’t put adult Advil and children’s Advil on sale at the same time… You’d think the 2 would go hand in hand right?
Yes I bought some Halloween candy, I figured now was a good time to make sure the quality of the Nestle candies is up to par… No guarantees it’s going to last until Halloween but ya know a few might, and I can always grab another box or 2 next week.
Speaking of Halloween…
More and more costumes and decorations are appearing on the floor and it’s getting very exciting! (for some of us anyhow) I went to Michael’s the other day and walked through the Halloween section there for a bit and drooled over the fun looking decorations they had… Don’t worry, as I start being allowed to set up my Halloween fun around the house I’ll post, probably more-so on Instagram though so not to clutter this blog up, but you’ll see some here!
Crazy though how quick the summer stuff vanished! I guess it is almost September somehow though!!!
Ok… So… Success brand organic canned mushrooms- Has anyone used or does anyone use these??? I don’t think I’ve used canned mushrooms before so I don’t really know what they are all about. I love fresh mushrooms, cremini, button, shiitake King oyster… Love ’em all, but where would one use canned mushrooms? Just curious if anyone has any pics of recipes… Cream of mushroom soup maybe???
Another question for you folks… Wi-Fi-ing your home… yes or no? (Wi-fi access to lights, heating, doorlocks, security cameras etc. etc. etc.)
These things always seem so cool (see my post about google home things and star trek click here) , but I just don’t know… I mean someone can easily hack into your network and then mess around with your lights, or view any security cameras you have hooked up to the network… ( I know that’s extreme but it’s like the google home thing, I don’t want google to listen to everything I say and then laugh at me for talking to my cats… Yes I talk to them)
Anyhow just curious how you all feel about these sorts of things or if you have them at home and how you feel about using them.
Those sweet wine kits are on sale again, so again, if you’re inclined to crafty things and you like wine (who doesn’t like both really?) Then grab these! I should really try this one of these days… Not a big Chardonnay fan or white wine in general (more of a red wine person) but Its a really good deal (provided the wine is ok) I think I worked it out to somewhere in the 3-4 dollars a bottle area before? CHEAP!!!
iTunes cards are on sale as well for 78.99 for a 4 pack…so 4 x 25 = 100. these are on sale for 79… Great deal! I’d say great preparation for stocking stuffer material or easy gifts for hard to shop for (or not often shopped for) people. Everyone likes music, or apps, or both! And you can save a decent amount with these. I may grab a pack for the same reason. Nieces and nephews are an easy target with these.
Dynamic Duo mini potatoes made it into the cart this week (as they have many times) We love potatoes in this household so this is an easy choice and being on sale is even better! I think I’ve talked about 1-skillet roasted potatoes before so I’ll post on the Instagram when I do them again. Super easy and so delicious! ( the black diamond cheddar slices and Welsh cheddar made it into the cart as well but those get consumed pretty quickly… odds of creative pictures with cheese slices are not likely on the menu- But I promise I’ll try!) I guess if I can get creative with cheese slices I can get creative with almost anything right? Challenge accepted!
It has been a busy/crazy summer, and I’m sad to see the August month vanish so quick but I am looking forward to the next few months- well the next 4 months actually because they are my favorite. Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas (my birthday shortly afterwards) and New years! I’m a sucker for the holidays, so I look forward to sharing them with you!
Until next week,
Cheers!
Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.
If there is something you really want, ***double check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.
The food brands available can differ from region to region. Pictures are taken at a store in Ontario. Sale items should apply to Costco locations in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Nova Scotia, if the item is in stock at your store. There will likely be a few deals not shown here in your store. If this blog has helped you save money, consider sharing www.cocoeast.ca with your friends and family! If you see deals at your store that aren’t on this blog, post them in the comments and help spread the money saving love!
Thanks again for all your work keeping us up to date on the deals. I am not sure if your location has the gas pumps but anyone out there if your gasing up at Costco the costco credit card is great for tap and go. No need to put in your Costco card first just tap and pump. Makes it quick and so easy, which makes the lines going faster.
Thanks again for getting the blog up so early. I always check Monday night before going to bed. I get so excited to see all the great deals I’m going to get this week. My husband not so much, when he sees the MasterCard bill. LOL ?
I enjoyed reading all about your time in Toronto last week. I’m glad you had a great time.
Thanks again, and have a fabulous long weekend!
Hahaha, that’s great Sue, though yes the bills can add up quick huh? I’m glad you look forward to the blog, I look forward to it every week and love doing it. And thank you, yes we had a great time in Toronto, I can’t wait to do it again sometime soon!
Thank you Kristen, I’m glad you enjoy the posts! I’ve heard from a few other pople as well that the canned mushrooms go well in big pot type things… Casseroles, chilies, soups etc. So I may sneak 1 can i from somewhere and try it out sometime. Any excuse to make Chili is a good one!
Thank you for all your hard work each week. I especially look forward to reading your blog! Going to go and check out your Instagram feed! Thanks again and have a great week! ?
Thank you so much Jennifer! (as I’m sure I’ve said many time before) i love doing this blog every week, It’s something I look forward to doing and knowing that it’s helping people or that they’re enjoying it makes me feel even better about it! Check the Instagram out for sure, like I said it’s still new so there isn’t much there yet but I hope to post fun things a few times a week that are a little more personal… Obviously Costco material, my shopping haul and potentially what I cook with the food stuff… Aaaand of course pictures of my cats as well… They would be unhappy if I left them out.
These posts are so helpful! Do you have any insights on Todller sizes for the snowsuits (size 2-3) I’ve heard mixed answers from Mom groups on Facebook.
Hey there Jenn, I’m glad you enjoy the blog! I don’t have any info on the toddler snowsuits… I don’t think my location (Kingston, ON) has any in yet, I think just the kids sizes. I’ll likely be in on Friday to do a browse so I’ll keep you updated!
Thank you so much for doing this. makes shopping so much easier! I wish they would have a “Kirkland ” item sale !!!
Have been looking for Coolaroo shades but can’t find them in Kingston. Where are you shopping?
Hey Terri, I shop at the Kingston location as well. The Coolaroo shades are there (not a ton left though) when you walk in to the warehouse just beeline to the left toward the bakery and they should be maybe 2 or 3 isles before there directly on the right.
Thanks for your hard work in keeping us up to date on the sales. The drive from Cape Breton return is 8 hrs so we really appreciate your info on whether it is worth the trip!!
Regarding your questions on canned mushrooms, it can be used in a boeuf bourguignon or chicken with a white wine sauce but nothing beets fresh mushrooms, the canned if great if you forgot to pick some up and it’s there waiting for you, just handy, the texture is more rubbery and not tender like the fresh.
You’re completely right… I was about to say the same thing! It’s kinda like comparing fresh veggies with canned. They work decently in a casserole but definitely don’t have the same texture or taste. I make mushroom soup from scratch and would NOT use canned for sure! I bought a case from Costco once because it was a much better deal than single cans but it took a very long time to use them all up.
Hey Jan! Always great to see you here! and yes I agree, fresh is better. Sometimes canned does work as you both (you and Sue) have said works in a soup, stew or chili… I would have the same worry about having 12 cans of mushrooms hanging out in the basement for too long though… They could get into trouble!

Hey there Sue, I kind of had that in my head about the texture just as a guess… I usually prefer fresh obviously but ya in a pinch sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. In a stew or chili I could see these being a great complimentary flavor and with the texture not being as important or central to the dish it wouldn’t matter as much… Worth a shot to try 1 can at first I’d say. Cheers!
Thanks for this- I really appreciate it. Just wondering about the whalen closet organizer – I could not find it in Ottawa or Gatineau and was wondering whereabouts you saw it. We got one last year and I was excited to see it on your post this week as we wanted to put in another one. Thanks again!
This is the coolest thing!! I just found it on the web and it looks so handy!! Whoever thought of doing this, you’re incredible!! I am wondering if you could help me out, I am looking to know when the laminate flooring goes on sale? I know it does at some point the lady’s at the customer service desk told me. I have been going every week but still nothing. Would you happen to know when it does?
Hi Bradley, thanks for finding and enjoying the blog! As this is a fan blog I won’t know when things are going to go on sale, but You can bet when things do go on sale I will post them here. I shop every Monday and do this blog up so you can always count on finding the deals!
I am at a loss as I am receiving the blog twice a week, one, immediately following the other and dare not unsubscribe for fear of not getting any. I love getting this. What do you suggest I do. Thank you for all your effort.
Maxine
Hello Maxine! I’ve had to add another server to the blog to help handle all the traffic so last week you may have received a copy of the blog. Don’t worry though I usually only post on Mondays and occasionally on friday if there are holiday hours or something special going on.

Hey there Shelley, I wish we had the gas pumps here but alas… we do not… Consider me jealous.

Wow Martha, that is a long haul!!! I’m glad that I can help in any way, I hope you have a really good playlist for that drive!
Does anyone know how long Costco does price adjustments for? Like I know most places are 30 days just wondering what Costco’s time frame is?

Hey there Sam! So I’m in Kingston, ON. as of this week they still had a few. You should call and see if they’ll put one on hold for you!
Hey
Great work!
Does costco have fingrlings right now?
Thanks
Hey Sabs, I havn’t seen fingerlings there… or fingrlings (hahaha) but I have at my location the mini-potatoes… On sale too! Kingston, ON.
