I grew up in a house that often had a box of Jos Louis sitting on the counter. When I spotted the Vachon Ah Caramel Machiato Flavour Cakes I decided to give them a try because I love coffee flavored cakes, chocolates etc. There are three seperate smaller 336 gram boxes in the large 1 kilo box and I paid $9.99 Canadian for the box which seems pretty cheap for 36 cakes.
The cakes come packaged in packs of two and the expiry date listed on the box is only about a month and a half from when I purchased them. These make a nice sweet treat after lunch or dinner or would also go well with morning or afternoon tea or coffee.
Two cakes have 270 calories, 12 grams of fat, 40 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 30 grams of sugar, one gram of protein and 200 milligrams of sodium. One cake out of the two in the pack is enough to satisfy me. The ingredients label states these may contain peanuts/tree nuts so they’re not school safe.
Both my husband and I tried these and though they taste a lot like Coffee Crisp but in the form of a little cake. The outer chocolate shell is firm while the cake underneath is is very soft, there’s also caramel and a chocolate cream in the middle. They’re definitely very sweet so if you don’t like super sweet things you may want to avoid these. Although both of us thought they were a tad too sweet, we enjoyed them.
