Recall notices from Costco & a day (slightly) off!

Hello and happy Friday! What a rainstorm on Wednesday, holy moly! Thankfully we only got a bit of water in the basement, the sump pump however did its job… Though I guess not when the power was out! There was nothing of critical importance on the ground as we’ve been through this before many years ago so anything of value is on shelves high above the floor.

Moving along.

There are a few recall notices that have popped up that I wanted to share with you from the Costco website (click the links for more info on whats happening with the recall)

The Vitamix one is pretty frightening, anytime the term laceration is used you know it’s not good… Certainly not something you want with your morning smoothie. The product specs for the recall are as follows

So if you purchased one of these I’d hold off on using it obviously and bring it back to Costco. Please click on the links above though for more detailed info on the recall.

Also – Pinty’s Delicious Foods is recalling the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips with best before dates of August 9th 2018 and August 15th 2018 due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The best before date can be found on the top film of the packaging. – The page says no illness’ have been reported yet however I’d not tempt fate, if you got some of these don’t eat ’em.

The blueberry bush would seem to be a tough one… I can’t imagine that you would get these and not transplant them in a garden (unless they were put in a large standalone container) so you’d have to dig the whole thing out including its root system (doesn’t sound like fun to me) The post says there is a potential that the plant may be contaminated with the “blueberry maggot” NO THANK YOU!!!  NOPE NOPE NOPE. So as with some of these recalls it seems like it’s the company doing its due diligence by saying they “may be” contaminated or have faulty parts. I really do appreciate that Costco makes this information public and doesn’t try to hide anything. So check through these and see if any of them are something you bought and if so follow the instructions for the return.

In other news my Mother is in town visiting from Seattle, WA. and next Monday we will be going to Toronto to shop around, take in the sights (maybe a museum) and a Blue Jays game! I can’t remember the last time I say a baseball game… It must have been in 2002 or something like that when I lived in Southern California so it would’ve been an Angels game, that was a long time ago!!! So I’m looking forward to indulging in some classic Toronto street dogs and pricey stadium beers!

That being said the blog will likely be posted either quite late on Monday eve. or on Tuesday morning. I have a friend who will be taking the pictures for me on Monday evening and then thanks to the wonders of drop box, the internet and my laptop I will be able to get the rest done at the hotel. So yes there will be a blog next week, it will just be up later than normal so no need to panic just exercise some patience (not patients unless you’re a doctor, then yes.)
