I needed some snacks to send with my daughter to daycare and saw these new Nature Valley Soft Baked Muffin Bars and picked them up.
The 980 gram box costs $15.89 Canadian and there are 28 bars in the box, which is less than a dollar per bar.
Each bar is individually wrapped and there’s one bar in each pack. They’re easy to bring to school, work or extracurricular activities. The best before date is about six months from when I purchased them.
One bar contains 140 calories, six grams of fat, 23 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, nine grams of sugar, two grams of protein and 170 milligrams of sodium. The ingredients list is not as desirable as I’d hoped it would be with sugar (corn syrup, fructose and sugar) being the second ingredient. and palm oil being the fifth. The bars contain wheat, milk, egg and soy.
The first thing I notice about these blueberry muffin bars is how crumbly they are! You can barely pick them up without them falling apart all over the place. I also noticed how strongly they smell of blueberry. Although the box says no artificial ingredients or colors the smell is very artificial. They remind me a bit of a fig newton even though they don’t have the filling, they have a soft texture with a strong artificial blueberry flavor. They’re pretty soft, not super moist but definitely more moist than a granola bar. They’re not amazing but satisfying.

Convenience: 9/10 (Loses a point for crumbling everywhere).
