Stonemill Naturally Fermented Multigrain Rye Bread Review

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Lucia’s Mexican Style Chicken Tinga, Costco Kirkland Signature Mocha Crunch Cake and the Costco Fresh Additions Steak Bites.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

I’m always on the hunt for a really good bread and I’ve found one from Costco that I want to share with you! The Stonemill Multigrain Rye is $8.99 at Costco and has three 550 gram loaves in the pack.

The best before date listed on the bread is about a week from when I purchased it. This is great in the freezer though. It’s awesome as toast but also works really well for sandwiches! It’s a product of Canada.

In two slices there are 170 calories, three grams of fat, 30 grams of carbohydrates, three grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, six grams of protein and 220 milligrams of sodium. I love the simple ingredients list as well!

This is my new favourite toast. It’s very hearty and filling but also unbelievably tasty. It’s really nice and crunchy from the seeds. I also like that it has a sourdough and rye flavour combined. I love it with peanut butter but my husband really likes it with butter. The ingredients are also great if you’re looking for a healthier bread option. I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re a bread/toast fan.

Cost: 8/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 9/10

Taste: 9/10

  1. Hi Natalie. I’ll be honest upfront in that don’t normally read your reviews as I prefer not to purchase ultraprocessed food whenever possible (and let’s face it – Costco caters to busy households and carries lots of easy food) but I have enjoyed this bread for a long time, so I thought I’d read your review. I whole-heartedly agree with you, especially about it being good with peanut butter.

My new fave bread for the past several months, though, has been Kirkland 21 grain bread that happens to be organic. It comes in a two-pack and I like its taste and texture even better. I also like that they are more normal shaped bread loaves so all the slices are similar in size, unlike the multigrain rye ones that are really tapered on the ends. Maybe you’ll want to try it. πŸ™‚

  2. I love this bread as well. One complaint though. The β€˜heels’, or crusts are difficult to find a use for. The crusts, if their not to thin, are usually my favourite for toast. These crusts however are very thick, & I struggle to find a use for them. They are good w a big bowl of homemade soup, but we don’t have that enough to use them up.

  3. Thanks Nat! I was looking to try a healthy high protein bread and you picked this one and I just tried, really good! Thanks for the sacrifice πŸ˜‰ Cheers!

  4. I used to keep buying this bread for quite a while until one day I felt a strange taste. I can’t tell what it is. It’s just wired.
