Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Kirkland Signature Variety Dessert Bars and the Costco Henry Lambertz Sweet Temptations Cookies, Gingerbread and Confections.

As I’m gearing up for 2025 I find myself trying to buy a bunch of “healthy-ish” products like these Puff Protein Bars from Costco in hopes I’ll reach for a protein bar rather than a cookie or donut! The box comes with 14 bars and costs $29.99 Canadian which is not cheap! Protein bars in general aren’t cheap though. One individual protein bar at a grocery store usually costs around $3 to $4.
There are seven chocolate coconut and seven chocolate brownie bars in the box. Each bar is individually wrapped making them easy to transport.
The nutrition facts vary slightly depending what flavor you’re having but each bar is 140 calories, six grams of sugar and 17 grams of protein. The bars are gluten-free but do contain dairy. For a gluten-free, dairy-free bar check out the RX Bars. Despite these having a good amount of protein the ingredients list isn’t full of healthy, natural ingredients.
These are pretty tasty for a protein bar! If you’ve ever had a Viva Puff by Dare before, that’s kind of what the filling tastes like, pretty much like a marshmallow. Both the coconut and brownie batter flavor are pretty mild and aren’t very sweet. Even the flavor of the chocolate shell on the outside is really mild, not sweet and barely chocolaty. They pretty much taste like you’re eating a light candy bar. I did find them a bit less filling than other protein bars I’ve tried, maybe because of how light the center is. The texture of the bars is pretty chewy.
