Natalie reviews: Portofino Cheese Bread Sticks

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Quest Tortilla Chips and the Costco Delici Dubai Style Chocolate Dessert.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

This week I picked up the Portofino Cheesy Bread Sticks to try and review. They looked pretty good and I wanted something to serve with lasagna and also use for packed lunches. I paid $9.99 Canadian for the 780 gram container.

The best before date listed on the bread sticks is only five days from when I purchased them and it seemed all of the bread sticks available at Costco had the same best before date. I was surprised that it was so soon considering this seems like a packaged bakery item. You can definitely freeze them though. They’re great to have with soup or pasta or to serve with dips like spinach dip for example.

In one breadstick there is 200 calories, five grams of fat, 30 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, two grams of sugar, eight grams of protein and 370 milligrams of sodium. The breadsticks have milk and wheat in them and also might have egg, mustard, soy and sulphites.

These are pretty mediocre tasting breadsticks. They’re not bad but not amazing. I find them a bit dry and lacking in flavor. The cheese is only on the outside and there isn’t a ton of it. They taste like a very plain white bread that’s slightly salty with a bit of cheese on it. I probably wouldn’t buy these again for myself but my three year old did enjoy trying them.

Cost: 7/10
