Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Farm Girl Cereal and the Costco Taylor Farms Crispy Rice & Edamame Salad Kit.

I saw these peanut butter & jelly flavor protein and fibre bars from the No Sugar Company and decided to pick up a box. I like to keep protein bars as an emergency snack at work and share them with my coworkers so I thought I’d give these a try.

One box comes with 14 bars and I paid $29,99 Canadian which isn’t cheap! That’s just over two dollars per bar. Each bar is individually wrapped and the expiry date is a year and three months from when I bought them.

In one bar there is 190 calories, six grams of fat, 20 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams fibre, zero grams of sugar, five grams of sugar alcohols, 20 grams of protein and 170 milligrams of sodium. These bars have lots of fibre in them and quite a bit protein. Beware as some stomachs may be sensitive to so much fiber!

These look better than they taste, I love peanut butter but noticed that these aren’t as peanut buttery as I thought they’d be, they’re also not very sweet. The jam inside is a bit artificial tasting but isn’t bad. There’s a bit of a chalky aftertaste which I find in most protein bars. These aren’t bad, just not the best protein bars I’ve had. I notice that they’re way less sweet than other protein bars which is good for people who don’t want a really sweet protein bar. I prefer the Kirkland Signature Protein Bars or Quest ones over these.
