Natalie reviews: Hawaiian Host Strawberries & Creme Macadamias

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Chocodelice the Most Delicious Desserts o Europe Chocolates, the Costco Brown & Haley Roca Collection Almond and Macadamia Roca, the Costco Jules Destrooper Beligan Butter Biscuits, the Costco David’s Butter Pecan Meltaways and the Costco Something Special Red Chili Pepper Spread.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

We’ve been to Hawaii a few times and nothing reminds me more of Hawaii than Hawaiian Host products and I love anything with macadamia nuts in it so I couldn’t wait to try these new Hawaiian Host Strawberries & Creme Macadamias. The 453 gram bag cost $18.99 Canadian which isn’t cheap! Macadamia nuts are never cheap though.

The bag reseals which helps keep the macs fresh and the best before date is about a year and three months from when I purchased them. The bag recommends keeping the nuts cool & dry, probably because they’d melt really easily. These are fun to snack on just on their own but you could also use these in baking cakes or cookies or even atop cupcakes.

11 strawberries & creme macadamia nuts contains 230 calories, 18 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 19 grams of sugar, three grams of protein and 20 milligrams of sodium. Keep in my macadamia nuts are naturally high in calories and fat. The ingredients list has pretty much what you’d expect to see, mainly just white chocolate, macadamia nuts and strawberry powder. There is beet juice used for colouring instead of food colouring.

These are okay, they definitely have a strong strawberries & creme flavor but it’s pretty sweet and artificial. The flavor reminds me of strawberries & creme hard candies or Chupa Chups if you’ve ever had those. At first I was wowed by how good they were but after eating a few more I decided I’d tire of the really sweet, strong strawberries & creme flavor really quickly and it was too much for me. It overpowers the natural deliciousness of the macadamia nuts.

Cost: 6.5/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 2/10 (Points for the mac nuts!)

Taste: 7/10
