Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Ground Beef Quesadillas and the Costco Kirkland Signature Chocolate Mousse Desserts.

I previously reviewed the Kirkland Signature Manchego Cheese at Costco and I really liked it so when I saw this Don Alonso Manchego at Costco I wanted to try it!
I paid $17.99 Canadian for 500 gram block of cheese which isn’t cheap! Although cheese is usually not cheap and this is imported from Spain.
Once you open the packaging of the cheese you can’t reseal it so I recommend popping it in an air-tight glass or plastic container or ziplock bag. The best before date is seven months. This cheese works well on a charcuterie board paired with some prosciutto and crackers!
One three centimeter cube has 130 calories, 11 grams of fat, zero grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, zero grams of sugar, eight grams of protein and 160 milligrams of sodium. The ingredients list is pretty short and if you weren’t already aware, Manchego is made from Sheep’s milk.
I like this cheese but if you’re a mozzarella or cheddar only kind of person you may find this too strong. It definitely has a bit of an “aged” pungent flavor but it’s not super strong. It’s very rich, and has a tangy, nutty and slightly sweet flavor. I enjoy it with crackers and it also goes well with white wine!
