I do a good deal of Asian cooking including making hot & sour soup (in various combinations).
To me this is a good authentic tasting hot & sour soup with lots of ingredients, bit of a bite and some sour taste. As good as many restaurants and at a good price.
For someone who wishes to try this type of soup without going and buying the ingredients needed, it’s a good choice and quick.
My search for a quality store-bought hot and sour soup continues. I had high hopes for this product but ended up disappointed. Lacking both HOT and SOUR, it didn’t come close to meeting the promise of its’ name. While the quantity of protein ( chicken and tofu) was generous, the addition of shredded carrot and chunks of baby corn did not compensate for the sparse amount of bamboo shoot, and provided little to improve the traditional recipe except provide colour contrast.
I’m, at best, ambivalent to opening the second pouch that was included when I purchased this product at Costco.
