My, my, my, the weekend seems to come so quickly! And of course with it come new items and sales!
One fun new item I saw, and an essential piece of kitchen gear, is the mandoline. It certainly doesn’t get daily use, but when I do use it there’s nothing quite like it!
Scalloped potatoes are a breeze, and the uniform slices can’t be beat. Great for making sliced carrots, radishes and onions as well. Though you do need to be a little careful, the blades are sharp and I’ve definitely had a few “flying too close to the sun” moments with these. That being said, I still think they’re an amazing tool to have at your disposal!
There’s a nice new set of plates and bowls on the shelves too, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this brand in more of a blue-ish colour… Anyhow I think they’re nice looking.
It’s also never too early to think ahead for summer and beach season, and having a good set of beach towels ready to go isn’t a bad idea. Picking them up when they’re on sale is an even better idea!
No one wants to be caught off guard that first beach day, right?
So, I did pick up that HP printer the other day. And so far, so good!
It was really easy to set up, and connect all our PC, android, Mac and iPhones to. The quality is decent enough for what we need, and the scanner is a handy tool to have as well (though I haven’t tested it yet). The HP+ ink subscription thing is something I’m uncertain about, and not something I’ll likely have use for, but the 6 free months is something I’ll try out. But there’s no way (likely) that we’ll be going through enough ink to make that a worthwhile situation. Maybe in a smaller office, or a shared workspace that would make sense, but unless Dexter or Ewok get some publishing deals and start printing off novels I think we’ll be fine… Something tells me Dexter won’t be doing that anytime soon.
Can’t say that I blame him, I’m tired too.
So on that note, I’ll say G’night folks. Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy all the new items and sales for the weekend. There’s gonna be a brand new bunch of goodies coming out next week, so make sure you grab any of the expiring deals you want while you can!
You mentioned being uncertain about HP+. I was skeptical about this option and looked into it in the past. It is not actually an ink subscription itself (that is a separate service called Instant Ink). HP+ is a free “upgrade” HP wants you to opt-into in exchange for some benefits (security features, enhanced app features, additional warranty). The downside of HP+ is that you are agreeing to lock your printer to work with only expensive genuine HP ink cartridges. If you activate HP+ then you won’t ever be able to use cheaper third-party cartridges, which work just as well IMO. And since HP+ requires your printer to be connected to the internet, it allows them to collect additional data. No thanks.
