Welcome to the Costco Weekend Sales Update where I’ll keep you in the loop on the awesome sales & new items Costco releases for the Weekend!

Please note:
The price at your local Costco takes precedent (or precedence) over the prices listed on this blog.
Costco liquidation/Manager’s Special items (ending in .97) vary from store to store.
An asterisk (*) on the price tag means the item is not being re-ordered.
If there is something you really want, ***double-check the expiry date*** as some Costco sales items do end mid-week.
It’s always a happy Friday when the price of butter drops, and we’re down to $4.85/lb!
I’ll usually pick up a few of these when the price drops and freeze them for later.
I should probably do the same thing with Avocados, they don’t go on sale very often. I should probably grab some, slice ’em up and freeze ’em.
Of course I’ll have to wait for them to ripen up, ’cause right now you could play baseball with them! They don’t really retain their shape and consistency very well when they’re frozen from my experience, so great for guacamole, dressings and smoothies but maybe not for topping a salad or tacos… Then again, I’ve never used the Foodsaver with avocados, so maybe that will make a difference???
I love watching for price drops on most things, but get the most excited about price drops on phones and tablets. So watching the price drop to $999.97 for the Samsung galaxy S23 ultra is pretty exciting.
Obviously with the S24 out now, this will continue to drop, but probably not too much more.
It’s obviously nice to see so many of the summer items filling the seasonal aisles, and the PFD’s are always a reminder that warmer (and wetter) days are ahead of us!
So we talked about Ketchup Cheetos recently, and feel like it’s a bit of a divisive topic… I think they’re pretty tasty. My partner, not a fan of them! I heard another group of people in the store today saying “I like cheesy cheetos, and I like ketchup, but not at the same time.” So I guess I get it, some flavour combos might not work for everyone. But how about cheddar and sour cream ruffles???
Again, maybe this is a nostalgia thing for me but I remember being a kid at my Dad’s on the weekends eating these and watching old Disney movies… PInocchio, Alice in Wonderland, the Sword in the Stone… I thought they were delicious then, and I still think they are now, what about you folks? What are some of your favourite nostalgic foods? Things that immediately transport you back to a time and place that you can remember so clearly it’s like you’re there.
Another one for me is McDonalds. We used to get hash browns and watch the trains go by in Toronto on Sunday mornings. Or my Mom would take me and my friend John to get Big Mac’s after swimming lessons at the Scarborough Town Centre… I can still smell the chlorine… Not sure if that’s the best smell to associate with food though??? How about Peameal sandwiches at the Carousel in the St.Lawrence market, that’s a good one. Most trips to Toronto aren’t quite the same without that visit.
Anyhow, I could ramble on for quite a bit more I’m sure, but I’ll spare you for now. Have fun checking out the sales and new items, and don’t forget to comment and tell me about your favourite nostalgic foods, or even just foods that remind you of a trip you took. I’d love to hear about it!
OK, have a great night folks and enjoy. See you soon!
$4.85 for butter? Good price! Did you max out their “limit of 20 units”? lol. I have a freezer stash and it’s kinda like my tp and White Linen sauce stash. I get the shakes when I’m running low….. 🙄😁.
Most of my nostalgic foods I wouldn’t eat anymore but when I see those orange blocks of Velveeta, I go back to my mom making spaghetti with that cheese grated on top. No sauce, just plastic cheese. We loved it and thought it was very Italian. It was the 50’s/60’s. 🤷🏼♀️
We didn’t know any better back then 😉.
Ciao from Waterdown!
Haha, no I didn’t “max out”! I’ll actually need to clean out my freezer if I want to do any kind of filling… Ah, that’s sweet Jan. So you were a pasta lover from your childhood huh? I mean really the most classic kind of pasta you’ll find in Italy is fresh pasta with Parm, olive oil and pepper… So I mean your Mom wasn’t too far off!
Mmmm! Everything’s bettah with buttah! (I think I’m watching too much of MasterChef Australia these days…) I usually buy about 5lbs of Salted and 5lbs of Unsalted butter. I cut squares of parchment paper and I usually cut each pound of Unsalted butter in quarters, lengthwise; for the salted ones, in squared quarters. I wrap them well in parchment paper and put them in freezer bags (so no need to tag the bags with “Salted” or “Unsalted”, but I do use a Sharpie to write down the freezing date). They never last long enough to bother with the freezing date.
