Natalie reviews: Natrel Gourmet Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites

Natrel Gourmet Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Chipotle Bitchin’ Sauce, Costco Dom Reserve Singles Tuna Poke and the Costco Edward Marc Snappers

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

I saw these new Natrel Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites and since my husband and I both love cookie dough ice cream I bought a box to try and review them.

The big box has three separate smaller boxes that contain trays of cookie dough bites. Each tray has six cookie dough bites and there are two boxes of chocolate chip ice cream with classic cookie dough and one box of chocolate ice cream covered with chocolate cookie dough. It’s too bad there’s only one box of the chocolate because I like the chocolate better. The box costs $14.99 Canadian.

The cookie dough bites need to be kept frozen and the best before date is about a year and two months from when I purchased them. I think kids would be thrilled to eat one of these on a hot summer day! They’re like a mix of underbaked cookie and ice cream.

The nutrition facts for two bites range from 170-180 calories,  26 to 27 grams of carbohydrates, 13 to 15 grams of sugar, and 90 to 110 milligrams of sodium depending on the flavor. There are seven grams of fat, one gram of fibre, and two grams of protein in two bites no matter the flavor. I already knew from tasting the bites that the ingredients list was going to contain a lot of unhealthy ingredients and my prediction was right. The bites contain corn syrup, soy and palm oil, dextrose ad mono and diglycerides.

If you like cookie dough, these definitely taste exactly like the cookie dough you get in ice cream or buy from a store. Not like homemade cookie dough though. Both the chocolate and classic cookie dough flavors are extremely sweet but I prefer the chocolate cookie dough. The chocolate cookie dough tastes more like a very soft brownie with chocolate ice cream in the middle. One cookie dough bite is more than enough for me and I can’t imagine ever eating more than two due to how sweet they are! I’m actually surprised the sugar content isn’t higher in two bites than 13 to 15 grams. I find there’s way more cookie dough than ice cream in the bites, I would prefer more ice cream, the ice cream isn’t amazing and is also pretty sweet. I like the chocolate ice cream better but I’m a chocolate person. The texture is soft just like cookie dough or a very underbaked cookie. I can’t say I love these because they’re so sweet but they do taste exactly like you’d expect, raw cookie dough with a bit of ice cream stuffed inside.
