Welcome back Costco friends and family!

Well we made it through another weekend folks, hopefully everyone out there is doing OK?

The two of us are doing OK here, not going out anywhere except for going for walks, though my partner has been better about getting out there everyday than I’ve been… Need to up my walking game I guess.

(Though we did just get back from one as I write.)

We’ve been very good about not going out, keeping our once a week Costco trip in tact for the essentials and groceries. Though we did go for a drive the other day just to get out into the world and see what was happening out there, and had a visit with my Mom (making sure to stay a good 3 metres apart) So we have had some human contact.

Sounds like some of you are making good use of your time at home! Jan in Waterdown is being good about using up the goods in her freezer, which is certainly a good thing! (We’ve being trying to make sure we use up all of our leftovers and not waste anything!)

Susan C has been watching “Virgin River” and “The Kominsky Method” on Netflix, and reading “Lion“. I haven’t seen either of those, but I’ll add them to our rapidly growing list! We’ve been watching “The Mentalist” on Amazon Prime. It’s pretty funny, kitchy, but funny (though some of the acting is bad!) It kind of reminded us of “Castle“, but more like Castle Jr. ya know?

Layla Bay has apparently not lost her sense of humor, which in these wacky times, is very important.

It’s also important to make sure you plan your shopping trips these days, so let’s take a peek at what Costco has on sale.

Cold-FX extra strength 150 + 18 tablets -12.00 @ $45.99

Ultimate ears wonderboom bluetooth speaker -10.00 @ $69.99

Oral-B bacteria guard toothbrushes 8 pk. -4.30 @ $11.69

Venus platinum razor +11 cartridges -10.00 @ $29.99

Feit electric LED string lights -10.00 @39.99

Dyson V8 total clean cordless vacuum -100.00 $449.99

Haggar twill pant mens size 30-42 -6.00 @ $18.99

Nicole Miller leggings ladies sizes XS – XXL -4.00 @ $12.99

Coca-cola & Diet coke -2.50 @ $9.39

Argenta Ridge Wine kits -16.00 @ $63.99

I will say I’m pretty impressed by the staff at Costco during this COVID-19 pandemic. They’re working their butts off keeping the place clean, keeping the social distancing of lines in order, cleaning the plexiglass shields, debit terminals and conveyor belts after EVERY customer, so hats off to you all! You’re making this pleasant, safe, and easy for us all! Also everyone I saw in Costco today was respecting the physical distancing quite well, and being courteous when letting people pass so you didn’t get too close. Thank you to everyone who’s been doing that!

Dexter & Ewok are pretty happy that we’re home so much now, though it certainly interrupts their extensive napping schedule since we’re constantly finding them and waking them up because they’re so cute and need to be squished!

How are all of your little (or not so little) fur babies taking your constant presence?

Are they happy? Are your dogs tired of going for walks yet? Our old neighbor said their dog “Obi” has been on more walks than ever in his life!

Here’s a link to some generally light hearted reading about how pets are dealing with their owners during the Coronavirus situation, it’s actually pretty funny!

I mean… Walking a fake dog??? Come on now!

At least when this is all over with one silver lining might be that we will all know how to wash our hands properly…

It’ll grow back probably, right???

Ok time to go. My “Boss” has decided I’m done working for the night.

Thanks Ewok…

Night night folks, stay safe and healthy & I’ll see you soon!

  1. Good read as always! Love the picture of the “walkers”. Of course the fur babies are enjoying having their humans home with them, lots of extra attention and loving! Stay safe everyone.

    • No…Sorry Jennifer. I think in order to get some you’d have to be there first thing in the A.M. I’m personally avoiding going that early though. Too many people for my comfort level.

  2. Hi, I look forward to your email each week. Thank you for doing it.
Do you know what it means when a price ends in .97 ?

    • Thank you Paul! So the .97 means that it’s a managers clearance item, and can be store dependent. Check out the F.A.Q. for more answers!

  3. We carefully scanned through everything even though we can’t go out of the house due to a med condition. Just wishful thinking I guess. Ha ha. Stay healthy.

    • Thank you for reading Tim & Wendy! I’m glad you can at least “sort a kinda” shop. Do you have someone who can pick up groceries for you???

    • Hahaha, I know I almost couldn’t top watching it.
Thank you for reading and the support, glad I could start your day on the right foot!

  4. Line ups outside our London store are keeping me out. Cleaning out the pantry and freezer. I will enjoy the big shop once we get back to normal. Or a new normal Thank you as always for the information. Stay safe.

    • Haha, yes I think a “new normal” is the likely outcome here Brenda. If you go around 7pm I’ve found that there have been no line-ups and it’s pretty quiet, you should try then. Stay safe and healthy!

  5. Thanks so much for the llama walkers. What a great way to start the day! Also thank you for the continued support you provide everyone so that our Costco shopping lists can be concise and we limit our time in the store. I appreciate everything Costco is doing to keep its patrons safe and sound.
    TV suggestions from me:
Peaky Blinders- violent at times but a great story, watch from the first season
    Survivor lol
Stargate Atlantis – never saw it when it originally came out and there are SO many episodes
    Jamie Oliver’s cooking shows
    Vera – BBC detective show

I’ll give The Mentalist a try and also Castle, thanks for the suggestions.
    Anyone else?

    • Well who doesn’t want to start the day with a laugh?!
I’ve heard Peaky blinders was great, and I think they filmed part of an episode here in Kingston???
And ya, Jamie Oliver and Michael Smith are great cooking options!

    • “Killing Eve” is amazing with our own Sandra Oh. 2 seasons available on Crave and the 3rd season starts at the end of the month.
“Ozark” on Netflix is really good. New season just released but you have to watch the previous seasons to understand the story line.
Thanks for everything you do for us and keep safe! As we say in Quebec “ca va bien aller”

  6. Hey there! Yesterday my husband had to pickup a prescription at Costco so I “let” him shop after giving him a very short list of items that I only by there or are such a good deal (hello Starbucks) that it would make my head explode if I bought them anywhere else 🤯. Needless to say, he added a “few” more items…. Lays chips, Doritos and chocolate chip cookies. He mentioned how everything was incredibly organized and the staff working hard, although it took a bit at first to understand and follow their procedures. It was probably better that he went…. I’m a bit of a wanderer and spend waaaay too much time in there!
This morning I did the “seniors” aka old folks shopping time 7-8am at my local grocery store, and bought ingredients for a jicama salad that we had in Mexico. If it turns out, I’ll share it with y’all.
Stay safe & sane out there eh?!

    • Loosening the leash on the husband huh??? That’s most certainly always turns into extra potato chips! I’m glad you took advantage of the “old folks” shopping time, it’s good to get out and see the world while still feeling safe. And I can’t wait to hear about the salad!!! Cheers Jan, Stay safe and healthy!

  7. Thank you so much. Our Costco shop always starts on the couch, looking at sales from your posts. More power to you. Stay safe.
    P. S. Those llamas remind me of John Travolta and Staying Alive.

    • Haha, thanks Ruby. Now I’m gonna have the Bee Gees stuck in my head all night, not that that’s a bad thing by any means.
Enjoy your week, stay safe and healthy and I’ll see ya soon!

  8. Thank you for all that you do! Stay safe and looking forward to your Saturday post. Season 3 of The Mentalist is where it becomes interesting and the acting will get better… 🙂

    • You’re welcome Josee, We’re only in season 2 right now so I’ll look forward to that! Stay safe and have a great week!

    • Hahaha, thanks Robin, yes we’ve watched the dog a few times now and is hilarious! (I added think link so we can all see it now!) Great way to start the day!

  9. First time leaving a comment here. Love your blog, saves me so much time and money when I do go to Costco. I went during senior’s hours to the Ottawa Costco, next to the Canada HQ. Toilet paper was being limited to one per cardholder. Otherwise well stocked. But there was no peanut butter or almond butter. Can you have a look next time and see if these are stocked at your location?

    • Hey Thomas, thank you for commenting and joining the “Costco family” I’m glad you have the opportunity to head in a bit early when it’s a little bit calmer and safer for you. I don’t know offhand about the peanut butter, and as I’m doing my part to only go out once a week now, I won’t be able to tell you until next weeks post. But when I do go (Kingston, ON.) I will let you know for sure.

  10. Thank you so much for all you do. Just wanted to mention to those who come from Ontario to shop in Quebec, Costco (and other grocery stores) will be closed on Sundays for the month of April.

    • That’s right Sylvia, thank you for pointing that out! Thank you for reading and supporting, stay safe and healthy!

  11. Thank you for your courage by leaving your home on our behalf. As a senior it is extremely important at this trying time that we spend as little time as possible out of our homes.
    Stay safe.

    • You’re welcome Joan, thnk you for reading and supporting! It is very important that we limit our exposure as much as possible, I hope this site helps a little with that!

  12. I love your blog… today is the first time I have had an issue where what you posted on sale is not on sale in our store (sadness). Saputo Mozzarella cheese is not on sale for 9.99, and the sign with your cheese picture shows the sale ended yesterday, which is weird. Sales usually don’t end middle of the week… I had to send my MIL as we are in isolation, so I will keep my receipt (she bought me FOUR even tho I said it was on sale and it really wasn’t anymore). If it goes on sale in the next few weeks I will head back in for a refund! 🙂

    • Hi Kay, thank you for reading and supporting! Absolutely keep the reciept, Costco is always really good about returns and price matching. It does happen sometime where the sale does end mid week, so always good to keep an eye on the sale end date for those desirable items! You can also take a look at the F.A.Q. for some more answers. Stay safe and healthy!

  13. Thanks for all the info! I went to Costco last night, our Halifax store had lots of extra sales on top of the ones you posted. Biscotti, Aussie bites, frozen spring rolls and a clearance on moishes coleslaw for 2.97. some of the things from last week were still on sale as well, like the frozen stuffed chicken breasts and pretzel chips. The store was well stocked but couldn’t find any canned corn! Just thought id post in case anyone else from this area is looking. Thanks for all you do!
